    FTS

Been a while since I've been on here, but these are the reasons I come back from time to time... very jealous! Should you find yourself up this way (northern MN/circum- Lake Superior), give a shout. You might be surprised at the mountain bike trail networks up here. Got plenty of space...

    Just Florida being Florida

Is it sad that despite the fact that I have not logged on to RM in quite some time, upon reading this article I immediately thought this needed to be posted here as quickly as possible? https://thevalleyreport.com/2016/02/13/florida-man-dies-in-meth-lab-explosion-after-lighting-farts-on-fire/

    wireless speakers?

You could try peachtree audio. They have some pretty excellent gear, and tend to have a more "modern" approach to audiophilia (i.e., tech integration such as bluetooth, etc). Or just say to hell with it, and build some massive old Altec duplexes and archaic tube amps... Sounds a lot better...

    Random Picture Thread

Multiple investment groups and mining companies have tried to develop ventures at various times since its discovery, but all "mysteriously" fell apart and/or were sabotaged. There's some great history about that particular kimberlite pipe in the book "Heartless Stone"...pretty fascinating read.

It's actually the Soudan Iron Formation...Iron Range of Minnesota. Part of Lake Vermillion Soudan Underground State Park. Pretty amazing place up in this neck of the woods between the two iron ranges, greenstone belts and mid continental rift system...

Just going to hazard a guess here, but on the limited photo, looks like foliation runs parallel to the "cirque" depression, making this a small syncline...

    Custom jewelry work?

Newly found hobby of mine...working on my second ring right now, wax cast mostly. With gold, things get difficult when recycling. If you want a refined piece, you're going to be better off selling the used gold to a recycler and just buying new gold with the credits (most jewelers will do this...

    Do you enjoy your work?

Depending on your interests and academic background, it wouldn't be too hard to get into at least part time. Most exploration companies have their field/drilling season in the spring/summer/fall, and bring on a handful of folks to help out with the manual labor. For us, this consists of field...

    Do you enjoy your work?

Happy to say that I fall into the "would still do it if I won the lottery" category. Exploration geology. I get to go camping, wander around in the woods and map out rock types exposed at the surface. Conduct geophysical surveys and drilling programs, and extrapolate about geological...

    Sstalder5's New Zealand Adventure Thread

Go drink Monteiths. Lots of it. Did a heli-drop on either Franz Joesph or Fox, then had a Summer Ale and fish n' chips... I honestly can't think of anything better. You know what, just get yourself to the south island. For scenic vistas, hiking, biking and the like, it's the tittys' tassels...

    full retard?

A nice, broad and heavy-handed approach by Germany. Nuclear energy does not have to be dangerous (a la Chernobyl and Japan's recent experience). A simple (and for some reason broadly downplayed) alternative to U238/U235 and Pu nuclear fuel is Thorium...seriously. Plenty of upsides with...
