    87 Rockhopper, fixed.

This is my latest commuter. 1987 Specialized Rockhopper, fixed, brakeless. Brakeless was an experiment but has worked out so well that I have kept going. Anyway, it is a fun ride& cost less than AU$300 to build.

    Heli-Biking in NZ (56k unfriendly)

On the steepest sections I'd say we got to about 50+km per hour, the track was very rocky, rutted, loose & while not as technical as your competition freeride/dh tracks gave both riders & guide a good case of arm pump & there were a couple of spills. It is rated as the most advanced track...

    Heli-Biking in NZ (56k unfriendly)

It cost $320NZ, so about $290AU. Can't say for $USA. The only complaint I have is that isn't any cheaper if you bring your own bike & do not use a hire bike (I brought my own). But this is a very, very small gripe. I will remember that ride forever.

    favorite urban tire?

I also think DMR Motos are the best tyre for street riding, although I have torn the sidewalls a couple of times. I ride a lot more street than DJ. If you ride more dirt than street then the Moto Digger is also very good, it grips dirt better than Motos but still rolls well on street .

    Kids or No Kids?

I am 27 & have 7 month old twin boys. They were unplanned & honestly I thought I would never have kids. It is a lot of work & worry, they were 13 weeks early & every now & again I get a case of 'the grass is greener' but any negative thoughts disappear when they smile or laugh at you.

I'm going to Japan. First time, any tips/advice?

I stayed for a while in Tokyo earlier this year & had a ball. With the ATM, make sure you have a VIsa or Mastercard 'Debit' card (or credit card) as even the citibanks will not accept the 'cirrus' or 'maestro' standard. There are only 2 ATMs in central tokyo that do accept these standards &...
