Count on years from now if ever. Front Royal has had a concrete park in the planning stages for years. With the country and states in financial ruin, I wouldn't count on it. Virginia sucks to get money and approval for stuff like this even when there is money.
6 to 7 is all you need around here. There is nothing on the east coast that a SMOOTH rider with a 6 or 7 inch bike can't clean. Too much travel and too many rocks = wheel in a hole and you over the bars.;) I've been riding a Remedy9 for the last year and love it. Pedals great and at 31 lbs...
It would be great if they built a nice skatepark. Keep the mtn. bikes on the mountains that you can see from any direction in the valley. There are 3 mtn. bike parks all within a 5 hour drive from the valley not to mention all the free trails in the area. Fvk a bunch of decking built in a field.
You have it wrong my man. I live in town and have been riding that trail for 10 years. The single track is Blueberry and the double track is the service road that goes to the top(OAK KNOB) which is called Mud Pond, hence the muddy pond halfway up where you are turning left to rip the double...
You went up Blueberry and down Mud Pond. You should keep going to the top next time(Oak Knob) and run the whole thing. Check Shenandoah Bike Companies site for info on the SIX PACK DOWNHILL races every Friday. One of the last ones is Mud Pond. It only costs a sixxer of pop or suds to enter...
Mud Pond is a GW Forest fire road that is used from time to time by the forest service. DO NOT build anything or dig anything without the permission of the National Forest. If you are interested in trail work you can call Shenandoah Bicycle Company or check the website for links to the local...
Trail work is on thursdays. 10 hours will get you a pass. No riding during hunting season(Nov. to Jan or Feb). You can also by a pass from the club. It's 50 bucks. Come by Shenandoah Bicycle Company or call for more info on trail work. The whole western side is owned by Massanutten and is...
Liability and they don't want all the headaches and BS that comes with a bike program. This comes from the management office. They make more money at their water park and in time shares than they make all year long. It will never happen. I've asked several people on the mountain and they are not...
Pics look good. Will be making a trip soon. Heard nothing but good stuff. Nice to see some buff stuff instead of the usual East coast tech gnar!! Big props to Judd and the boys from Alpine!!!
I was working with Rich from IMBA yesterday and he said non of the jumps should be affected. And yes they are fast tracking the HOT lanes because of the disgusting amount of traffic in the area. Move while you can!!!! It will only get worse!!!!(Traffic and people that is.)
There are plenty of places to ride up there. I ride there all the time....Kennedy Peak,Stevens Trail,31 Flavors,Wolf Gap,WaterFall,Scotchhorn. I could go on but you get the idea. There is a grocery store just outside(east) of Strasburg. They are also a bike shop. The guys name is Matt McHale...
You guys are missing the point. The point is no dig no ride is not how it is. I don't see how people can get so defensive over that spot that is played out, stays wet for fvckin ever, and is only there because an organized trail group came in and saved it from being plowed. Be thankful. You guys...
You guys should call the Parks Dept. or the county because as it was explained to me 2 days ago by Rich Edwards of IMBA, all the necessary papers have been filed and there is no limbo. Anyway here is the way I look at it. The only reason we can discuss these jumps is because they were brought to...
That bike is DOPE!! Give a shout sometime(pm) and come down to the burg for some riding. I know a trail or 2 you may enjoy with that ride. It's free..... well I do require a 6 pack of Sam Adams Summer Ale but the lodging is nice.
Nothing is in limbo. It is part of Mill Creek and the county has everything to do with them as they have allowed them to stay. The county will never help maintain them is my understanding. They are the model for USER MAINTAINED trails on public land in a public park. They have left the trail...
It is part of the county park system and was saved by Rich Edwards from IMBA and MORE. It falls under Mill Creek Park so Rich told me. MORE has been the driving force in keeping user maintained jumps at that site. Just got off the phone with Rich and was told that MORE has been working on the...
I don't understand what you mean by hate to say it. Maybe you should title this thread something positive. Why would you hate to tell people to go to a site and find out about riding for free? Makes no sense.....link to info is cool.....thanks
