With a standard 105 RD (circa late-90s?), I can shift my 11-32 cassette just fine with DT friction shifters. I assume a standard DA RD might not work quite so well.
Thanks all for the input. I picked up a cheap pair of platforms to try out, and am somewhat ambivalent after a couple relatively short rides. I'm driving down to Moab this weekend for several days, and will bring both platforms and clipless for more experimentation.
I've read a couple article lately extolling the virtues of platform pedals, with a lot of folks claiming to have switched from clipless to platform, and preferring the latter.
Any thoughts from folks here? Anyone tried platforms lately? I ride mostly single-track with a fair amount of tight...
I agree with the roadmorph. I don't know that the footpeg is all that useful, but having a flexible connector for the valve is a life-saver. Without this, particularly at higher pressures, it's easy to accidentally rip the valve off the tube.
The roadmorph also has a pressure gauge. I won't...
Thanks for the tips guys; my helmet doesn't have much in back to keep it from slipping forward, to maybe that's the problem. I'll look at some of the end of season sales to see if I can pick up a helmet with better fit.
It would, as mentioned, make sense to have a second helmet for night...
This was on the slickrock trail at Moab. The biggest drop I've done is around 2 feet, and I'm about 210 pounds, so I'm not all that hard on frames.
On the bright side, it wasn't a particularly disastrous failure.
I have a helmet mount Niterider HID that I use for night-time singletrack rides. The helmet mount has two long velcro straps that appear to be designed to weave in and out of the air vents in some fashion.
In 2 years of use, I've yet to find a comfortable way to mount this thing. My problems...
Is a cheap hardtail a reasonable alternative to a trials frame? I'm a reasonably big guy (6'4", 210 pounds), so am worried about the longevity of a low-end trials bike.
Thanks..
Hello,
I've been playing around trying to develop some basic trials skills. I am not, nor will ever be, competing at any level. But I'd like to be able to pull some basic moves successfully.
I see a lot of people ride specialty trials bikes. I've been using my FS bike (a K2 Evo frame). Am...
