i looking at converting my current mtn bike into commuter/tourer when i get my new bike. anyway i'm thinking about running a 1x9 setup and i'm trying to figure out if i can run a 36 tooth chainring (104mm, 4 holes) in the middle chainring position (for best chainline). so i'm wondering if anyone...
i checked the surly website and 18 inch frame has an effective top tube of 23 inches. i measured the effective top tube length of my 20 inch norco and it was approx. 23 inches. also i have a 130 mm stem on the norco which is marginally too long. i guess with similar effective top tube length...
surly steamroller goes for about $400, it's steel, it's bit on the heavy side but thats how surly build them (durability, strength and feel as opposed to weight). here's a link http://www.surlybikes.com/steamroller.html
oh i forgot the colour is grey, don't know if would suit your tastes'?
they look really nice
also it looks like that they have a quite a deep tooth profile and wide base
however being made out of aluminium i would be concerned about the lifespan of them
i looking at building a new bike soon and trying to decide on what fork to get? so far for value for money and desired application i've found the RS reba to best bang for buck.
but after speaking to friends over the w/end i'm really starting to have second thoughts. The reason being...
how do you measure effective top tube length? is that the measure from the top of the head tube back to the seat post where the line of measurement is parallel to the ground. ie does this correct for slanting top tube?
thanks matt
i think it might be too late on the CK kogs, web cyclery have put their prices up to $42.
you might be lucky with lbs having some in stock but CK have put their prices up! :mumble:
i dont know if this start of a trend for CK to put all their prices up?
hi
i'm looking to buy a surly 1x1 frameset, and i'm not sure about the sizing. it's a toss up between an 18 and a 20inch frame. my height is 6ft and an inseam length of 32.5 inches. the problem i have is that here in oz the surlys are pretty thin on the ground and i'll have to order it in...
also you might be able to get good chain tension with a half-link, though i think they're pretty hard to get if you are running a 3/32 chain (spicer cycles sell them though).
but by all means run a singleator, i've used one for about a year and a half without much problem. make sure you...
this maybe BS but soy protein contains phytoestrogen (a plant form of estrogen), which can inhibit muscle building, like estrogen. what effect phytoestrogen has on soy protein usefullness over say whey protein i don't know? hopefully someone who knows more can shed better light on it.
ps...
what is your wife's concern?
yes you can get salmonella (sp?) poisoning if the eggs are off. and if you have high cholesterol reading then alot of eggs can be bad. but if you eggs are fresh and food hygenie is good, then i don't see the problem!
i know that suspension seat posts can be a bit of a gimmick, but i thinking of using one in endurance races eg/ 24hr races to reduce fatigue.
how do the USE, RockShox compare to the cane creek thudbuster?
the frame is 7005 aluminium alloy. i'm pretty sure i know what you mean by a flex hone (its used on engine blocks). i wondering if it will just fit albeit a tight one, given that the difference in diameters is less than 1% of the overall seatpost diameter. i don't know how strict tolerances...
i was just wondering if anyone can give some advice about fitting a 26.8mm seatpost in a frame designed for a 26.6mm seatpost?
the bike i have is a 2000 norco nitro and norco in their infinite wisdom decided that a 26.6mm seatpost would fit nicely. however except for axiom (norco's component...
