I have shipped many bikes to the UK using UPS and it has worked great. However I always break the bike down into as small as possible pieces and also install long pieces of threaded bar with bolts and washers in between the forks and rear dropouts.
If you go up gibraltar to the top where it turns into east camino there is a road closure up there but nobody is enforcing it just yet so you can ride tunnel with nobody walking on it
I cant work out why if I live and ride in SB I would want to ride over to solvang and ride a hill that I still have to shuttle when I can ride knapps, or ellings for free. or with a little effert can also do cold springs or tunnel.
The cost to ride a very small hill with no lift is unjustified...
Just a quick head up, the 9 trails goes from jesuitta to romero and back through most of the catwalks and secret side trails. There will be a heap of runners out there all day, the best time to shuttle would be mid day if possible
yeah, the 34T on the front wasnt much help! I was going to go up the trail but I have enough problems running up tunnel with no bike so decided to take gibraltor up. It wasnt too bad, I finished a camelback and also made it up to the top in 2 hrs! it took me twice as long to come down the trail...
I'm sick of the walkers, hikers and others always asking me if I rode to the top of gibraltor before riding down as if they think riding a 45lbs downhill bike up gibraltor is possible.
well let me be maybe the first to say I got my turner DHR to the top in 2 hrs and drink a **** load of...
Its an awesome trail, ride up the single track all the way to the ski hut thingy at the top and then rip back down as fast as you can! its one of the better trails over this way if you can be bothered with driving up the grapevine etc, but such a good trail! we did it last year just before...
so how do you get to the elings park DH course? and also the XC course? I drove through the park today and if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great so I can get some pre riding in!
I am off there, should be fun. ride the front country if you want but for the best runs do them very very early. I took tunnel on saturday and got to the top at 6:20. on the way down I passed 3 groups of hikers, its fun but at the moment on the middle flatish section there is a lot of greenery...

Thanks for the info! I will definitely sign-up this weekend. I'm a Santa Barbara local so I have to give it a shot. Cant be any worse than some of the trails in the area.
Sounds exciting and fun!
Thinking of racing the xc course on sunday. Does anyone that has ridden the course before have an idea of what it is like? elevation gains? technical? I'm english muffin's other half and was wondering. This will only be my 2nd xc race as a beginner so I was curious before I sign up. I know we...
The 661 protection is hard to beat, works well and fits great. I have been wearing it for a while now and it has definately stopped some bad falls really well. have you tried the red and black pressure suit? go look at beyond bikes for some of the best deals out there!!!
These shoes are great, I have been riding in them for about 2 months now and no problems, its a steal at the price too!! The nice bit is that the toe box is nice and roomy,
