Not really sure about the negatives about 27.5 +... It's just a 2.8 tire engineered to work on a lighter bike. Lots of riders have run similar sizes on DH bikes for years. Now there are frames and forks to accommodate larger tires.
I'm gonna give it a try. Seems like there will be lots of tire...
Angles are pretty similar... 65 (reign)vs 65.8 (genius lt plus). The plus is on taller tires. The medium reign and large genius lt are very close in top tube, reach and wheelbase.
I think the genius lt is more versatile due to its adjustable geometry and on the fly dampening adjustments.
Just looking for some input.... Buying bikes in this segment is a huge investment. I don't want to drop 5g on something that is obsolete the minute I get it.
I am an experienced and aggressive rider. I am also 6.1 and 185 so I need the tires to hold up to that. Maybe plus isn't for me...
I was a 26 hold out, but can't deny that 27.5 is better then 26 in every way after running one for the past 2 seasons.
I still have 26" DH bike and will likely keep it.
Fact is I need a new bike, and it needs to be the fastest one.. I don't really care which one is a little "funner" then the...
looking at mini DH/ enduro bikes.... Particularly the Scott genius lt and Giant Reign.
Both bikes look good, but my big dilemma is deciding on which genius lt .... Plus or regular 27.5 if I decide to go with Scott.
On paper the plus looks like a winner to me. More traction with minimal loss in...
Yes keeping the Trance.
Ideally I would run an anthem advance sx and a reign, but don't have the funds.
The trance is lighter, will have trail/Xc tires and has much better geo for aggressive Xc.
The new reigns are slack and long... Basically a light weight DH bike
I run the upper (e-13) on my 650 trance 1 with a xtr shadow plus. It's a nice setup, but for the Reign I would like a bash.
I definetly will be using a narrow/wide ring so I can likely get away without a bottom tensioner.
If I new the lg-1 would setup correctly I would likely still go with that...
Picking up a reign advanced 1 soon.
I will be taking the 2 speed guide off and putting a single on. I know older Reigns had issues with fitting guides as the chainstays are low and the orientation of the mounting tabs wouldn't let the top guide to be at 12 o'clock..... More like 11, which caused...
I'm leaning toward the Chromag stem. I have run their bar/stems in the past and have been pleased with the performance.
The only thing that is a pain about overdrive is finding stems. Other then that its fine. I might change forks throughout the year. No big deal to get a new upper headset.
I posted this in the Xc forum and only got one reply.... RM is all about the DH forum so I'll post in here.
Any word if Thomson is going to make 1.25 stems???
I have a bregg custom fit brace for my right knee.... Acl is removed and both meniscus repaired .... Both badly torn. The brace fits nice and comfortable but it catches on the saddle when ever my leg presses against it.... Cornering..etc. I don't use it for this reason as I fear it would cause...
The demo bashing is kinda funny. I hope people aren't serious. All of the bikes are unreal...... It comes down to the rider. Sam had awesome results on the demo and actually did one place better on it last year when he was out of shape.
Not to mention Troy had a pretty solid result considering.
I'm mainly interested to see if Sam will roll over or make a statement. Also interested to see if Smith can start as he finished last year. The Gwin, Minnaar, Atherton debate is getting boring and although I expect one of those guys to win I wish they didn't..... I 'm praying for some kind of...
