Check out your local library. Most of them have systems where you can check out ebooks online. You might get on a waiting list for really popular books, but they e-mail you when it's available and then you'll have a couple of days to download it. The loans expire in ±3 weeks, but it's a...
Totally. Woo could outride me in his sleep! When I was a young 'un I was inspired by his pictures on emptybr, and I think he usually comes across as a pretty funny and reasonable guy. If we go fast or big or small or blow a corner etc., however, is--as far as I understand the workings of the...
Clearly I am a terrible rider with no idea.
FWIW, I don't generally try to auger the chin area, moto-esque helmet on or not. Maybe I don't know how to ride and crash. Maybe I got f-k unlucky. However, it seems rather ungenerous to assume the former. It certainly crossed my mind that it was...
Completely disagree. Getting launched and skittering on the faceguard across shale counts to me as worthwhile prevention of significant surgery (got gouges and scratches to faceguard, no breakage). Between riding buddies and me, we went through at least half a dozen of those helmets and never...
The company that makes the lasers: http://thexfire.com/
Not sure where to buy, but they do look nice. I use a red high power led with some kind of a rectange-maker lens and it makes an enormous difference with cars at night.
Also, in addition to lists being poor "journalism," the Switchblade...

I'm for improving science education not because there is an urgent need for more scientists (not...
Haven't been out on a board at the closest surfable (sometimes) beach since this happened: http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/wa/13991272/mullaloo-shark-attack-like-an-explosion/
I was in the water snorkeling around (elsewhere), checking out a bit of reef when a chopper went over. Thought...
Is your install disk burned? Those things can be a bit tricky to burn copies of...if so, try the original if you can. (Recently I was unable to reinstall XP after a HD crash because the copy of my (legit) recovery disk didn't burn properly (and the original was geographically distant.))
Another vote for Dumonde Tech. I run the original/regular on road bikes. Apply it, cycle, then wipe it all off with a rag. If you tend to be too generous with the lube, maybe the light version.
I remember a bunch of reviews and threads that said the road BB7s were good, but frame and hub selection was limited and really there wasn't much of an advantage except in cruddy conditions. Also the UCI thing. But most people aren't racing UCI races.
For me it usually seems like the...
The rim brake hydros make some sense if you absolutely must have terrible cable routing on a TT bike. Maybe also for the very small handed people who have trouble getting sufficient brake force.
Regarding discs...Avid didn't have the marketing power to make them popular enough all those years ago?
I thought the major argument against alloy nipples on no-eyelet Al rims was galling between the nipple and the rim. Whatever the nipple material (I prefer brass), grease the nipple-rim interface, eyelets in the rim or not. One way is to thread a nipple onto a spoke backwards, dip the nipple in...
Yeah, mostly chains break because they were connected without a master link or the special pin. Most people learn that lesson at some point.
Quick test for if a chain needs lube (especially if using a dry lube) is to tap it. If it rattles it needs lube.
Cross chaining (big chain rings up...
