On the hunt for a TV

Hey bro, LED TVs are still LCD-based but use a different system for backlighting, i.e. LED and not fluorescent. LED TVs consume quite a bit less power than normal LCDs. Also, dynamic range is a bit better... but the do cost some money. On the refresh rate pissing match topic, 240Hz is...

    2009 Uzzi proto?

I was thinking in terms of freeride bikes which seem to be lacking from their product lineup this year.

    2009 Uzzi proto?

Not necessarily so. IMHO, this Uzzi could fill the gap between the Socom and M6 quite nicely. I hope they don't go too light on the tubing, i.e. FRO version.

    will do.

'09 Shimano Saint... keep it coming.

The plate is the mode converter which is removed for DH cassettes. I made a ghetto scan of the manual... check your PM.

'09 Shimano Saint... keep it coming.

Just got the new Saint RD-M810 SS in today's mail. As a connoisseur and destroyer of rear derailleurs, I can appreciate the burly new construction. Kudos to Shimano for the robust design and still keeping the weight to a modest 237g. The spring is insanely strong and will take an iron thumb...

    Gamut, any good?

Did the bash ring have a cutout? I'm running 2006 cranks and it wouldn't clear the beefy spider. I thought about putting on an MRP or e13 bashguard (which did have the cutout) but figured that would be disrespectful. :brow:

    Gamut, any good?

I'm running a P36 on my Demo 8. Easy to install, works well, but a bit noisy due to the plastic roller. EDIT: bashguard needed some trimming to fit my diabolus cranks.

    Airlines and Baggage Fees.

On my last trip to California I was able to fit a Demo8 and SX trail into 3 large suitcases. Otherwise, would have been some extra $400-500 from Lufthansa. Of course, traveling with a wife and kid helps so the allowance is 6 bags total. :monkeydance:

    Specialized 2009?

Something ain't right when importing a bike yourself is cheaper than buying locally. Don't get me wrong, I like to support my local bike shop but the prices are just insane here in Scandinavia.

    Specialized 2009?

Despite that, Specialized still seems to sell quite well here in Europe. There are some quality 4-bar bikes available from Germany, but somehow their technical merits are often overshadowed by Specialized's marketing presence... and the fact that they make good bikes. :happydance:

    fox 40 oil

Paint thinner? :lighten: Mixing lighter and heavier synthetic fork oils should have no impact on the seals unless the oil has some seal swelling additive. Most quality fork oils should not contain any such voodoo.

    fox 40 oil

I ran into a similar problem, locating Fox oil for a reasonable price (here in Finland). Fortunately, most shops here stock Motorex fork oil so I mixed some 7.5wt with a splash of 5wt (4:1 ratio). I'm no Texan, but I recon' it's pretty close to the factory oil's viscosity (cSt). This...

    My Spankin' New Demo 8

Congrats on a a fine build... post the weight please. two questions: - Did you have to use the ISCG adapter to get the e13 guide to work? - On the headset install, was it necessary to go with the oversize CK cups?

    Specialized 2009?

The '08 Demo 8 frame is 10.5 lbs. according to Specialized. Making a sub-40 pound build should be no problem. This the same weight the Intense M3, but with slacker head angle and better warranty. :lighten: As for the headtubes, the Cobra forged design is quite well refined. Have you...

    deuter packs

I might need to pick me up one of them packs... my woman is about to throw me out of the house. I blame it on the bad weather, laziness, and high-availability of cheap beer. Nice review, btw.

    SX Trail to Enduro conversion

Not fixing blame here... just seems a bit odd not to standardize headset sizes. Specialized seems to base the frame design around their preferred OEM headset (guessing it's made by TH). I'm running the standard King headseat in my SX Trail and no creaking so far. Even after running an FSA...

Leave as it is, or strip paint, or get a respray?

If the frame is in good shape, why not get it powder coated? I had a frame done by Spectrum Powerworks and was quite impressed with their handiwork. -03 Dawg Primo frame... that has seen Tunnel trail in a previous life.
