    The Holy Grail. {What you have all been waiting for.}

    BACK FROM THE DEAD!! Hi guys, it has definitely been a long time since I browsed Ridemonkey, or participated in a thread. Long story short on the project is that money problems never saw it progress much further than a few design iterations with Spooky and some help from DW. The project was...

    Homemade Split Pivot Gearbox DH Bike

    Awesome to see you are getting going on it! It will be a fun process. FWIW, I definitely recommend shot-peening after you weld her up. The fairing stuff could be sitting on the shelf for a long time, artificially aging before weld and you may get some interest HAZ effects. I like the idler idea...

    The Holy Grail. {What you have all been waiting for.}

    Hey guys, sorry about the late reply!! As for the burner, the bike worked well for the entire event. I had some connector issues with the battery which caused me to run single speed for a good portion, but the rear wheel, frame and shifting did work well when all sorted. Ryan and I ended up...

    The Holy Grail. {What you have all been waiting for.}

    THanks guys. Currently packing and getting all the equipment ready for the Red Bull Burner this weekend at Angel Fire. 12hrs of pure shake down at its best! I'll give a download of how it does this weekend and hopefully some good shots from the racing.

    Linkage forks for DH

    One clarification: Fork dive does not equal more mass transfer. It's simple physics. Another interesting point: You know have loads more potential in geometry setup and kinematic performance. Want a shorter wheelbase with more rake? Done. Longer wheelbase with reasonable reach to the bars and...

    The Holy Grail. {What you have all been waiting for.}

    So I will try to hit the majority of the questions with this post. Yes, this frame is the precursor to the one in development with Spooky Bikes. We are working on the next iteration that will be stiffer, lighter and quite a bit more polished in terms of build. This will be available for...

    The Holy Grail. {What you have all been waiting for.}

    I would love to run a belt drive. However, the current box design will not allow for it, as your final drive has to have a rear cog that is pretty small 12t-14t in order to get the right gearing. The belt drives can't handle that small of a pitch diameter. I do think it is on the horizon...

    The Holy Grail. {What you have all been waiting for.}

    Ive got a little mount designed up, should take me a day to make. Just have been having a hard time balancing real work, bike stuff and the rest of life! Its actually not even a stepper-motor. Just a high-power RC servo with a small 6.4V li-ion battery and audruino board. The box will...

    The Holy Grail. {What you have all been waiting for.}

    Well, the long awaited upgrades to the g-boxx2 platform have finally been rolled out. Everyone said they wanted a lighter weight to make it race-able. How does sub-41 pounds sound? Everyone said that they could not live with the clunky gripshifter. How about electronic push-button...

    Linkage forks for DH

    I thought about this 2 years ago when thinking about brake dive and suspension performance entering into rough whooped-out corners. I passed the idea onto my colleague and he has designed up a system and is in the process of building the prototype out of steel. I truly think you can get a...

    ok so this is more bmx, but I had to share... 204 pt engagement hub

    To me, claiming 240 pts of engagement is a misnomer. With the tolerances they are running, I would be surprised if more than half of the pts engage at any given time. Claiming 1.5deg. engagement however, does make sense. Yet another area where MTB marketing obscures reality.

    suspension guru's: need help with final year project!

    Wish I would have seen this sooner. My company specializes in Magneto Rheological damping for off-road vehicles and this would have been a great project to collaborate on. Let me know if you still have any interest in it for a school project. We could for sure get something to work awesome for a...

    My Interbike Top 5

    I was the guy with the electronic shifting bike. Nice to meet you too! It was a fun time and the bike got its fair share of interest in the 1.25 days that I was there. Wish I had more time to get it in front of more of the media. Take care!

    G-boxx's and Electronic Shifting

    We just had a pretty successful trip to Interbike last week. I was able to finish with the development version of the electronic shifting and it does indeed function as I claimed. You can easily fire off 4 shifts in under a second. Also, the rear hub turned out beautifully and super light. With...

    new yeti proto pics

    Interesting that they would choose to have a shortening wheelbase with the forward wheelpath. Especially with the infinite options...Pretty much goes against most conventional wisdom. Maybe due to chaingrowth issues...
