Really simple suspension question... damping vs travel

I'm not sure which Fox shock I have on the rear of my bike. It appears to be an air shock, and can be set by putting anywhere between 160psi and 220psi into it. I have a shock pump and am capable of adjusting it. Additionally, there is a rebound adjustment lever (fast or slow) and a travel...

Really simple suspension question... damping vs travel

Hey I have a shimano 2002 enduro bike with a Fox shock on the back. It has two adjustments on it, which I'm trying to make sense of. One is a travel adjustment, long or short travel. The other is a rebound adjustment, fast or slow rebound. It seems pretty simple, but I'm wondering what...

How do I tel when to buy new brake pads?

Thanks for the help with my bike. I appreciate having a resource like this to use for information instead of getting charged 60 bucks an hour to have some guy work on my bike. I am a car mechanic, so I doubt any of these procedures are beyond my abilities. I will check out everything that was...

How do I tel when to buy new brake pads?

Hey guys, I've been working on my bike lately and I notice a few things about my brakes. I have hydraulic shimano brm525 disc brakes, front and rear. What's bothering me is.. my brakes don't seem to disengage. I squeeze the handle hard, and the brakes work (with a loud loud loud loud loud...

Trying to tighten spokes, makin a real mess of things... HELP!

I have successfully pulled my rims back to straight. They are about a 16th out of round now, which is doable for my quality tolerances. Thanks for the help guys, couldn't have done it without ya. Yes, I did get a spoke wrench, it made things much easier. I tried the cable tie trick, but...

Trying to tighten spokes, makin a real mess of things... HELP!

Hey, first post in like.... 5 years :S I've been getting back into riding and I get my bike out to find that my rims are warped and some spokes are way too tight while others aren't even barely tight. I googled "how to tighten spokes" and did some reading and figured it was simple and I...

    Definition of FSR...

Hmm, lot's of definitions. I think I'll go with full-suspension-rear, because I like the way it sounds, but if anyone asks me, I'll point them here. ;)

    Definition of FSR...

Call me an amatuer, but what does FSR stand for? :S Full-suspension-racing or something of the like? Thanks

    I win at the n00bednesses

Maybe I will do that, I am getting a list together of things I need to get done/do to that bike, and I will prioritize them by $$ etc, which will decide my course of action.

    I win at the n00bednesses

New tubes... simple answer. Interesting concept with the tube-over-tube idea, I likey. I think I will do that. I am looking at getting some tubes from some on-line store soon, as soon as I get some $$ into the right bank account. Yes, downhill tubes do look like the ones to buy. Thanks for...

    I win at the n00bednesses

;) Don't hold it against me. I went for a decently long ride yesterday, prolly about 20 miles or so, mostly downhill into town. At any rate, when I got into town, I bike around a little until my friend came down. In the process of biking around, I scored myself two flats. Made me feel...

    Another new peep.

Yup, sounds like a plan. I'm wondering if spending money on shoes is a good idea, seeing as I'm not sure I'm ready yet. Thanks for the shouts though.

    Another new peep.

Call me a harsh critic, and I suppose you'd be right, but..... So far, I have some issues with the fenders and the ghei-lookingness of them. And yes, I am considering taking them off. The fr00t I got the bike from had about size 4 shoes, and a nice pair of size 4 clip-ins. Unfortunately, I am...

Backside is a good ride, all the ways down to LaPerouse. Prolly about 15 miles downhill or something as the crow flies. Fun stuffs. And no, I don't need a space blanket. Not to say it doesn't get damn cold here. ;)

Thanks for the shouts, I appreciate it. Yep, I have friend who rides lots, I'll prolly get him to show me around a decent amount etc etc. Yep, I'm still proud of the bike. :D

    Entry Level Full Suspensions?

Hey, I just acquired a full suspension bike, and I'm sure it's more than I need. From the small amount of riding I do, I can attest to the fact that it is very nice indeed. I think it comes down to the deal. If you can find a good deal on a good bike, take it, and work around it.

Sup all? N00b here to join the group!

Hey, I'm a n00b too. Nice looking ride. I swam for a few seasons, and it's a very good cardio workout. I go to the gym on a regular basis, and it's hard to get that solid of a workout on a machine. Welcome to the forum.

    Another new peep.

Hey all, my name is Cory and I go by Corksil. I am a light rider, generally road riding, and getting into mountain biking. Since I was a lot younger, I have appreciated bikes and enjoyed riding. I used to do a bit of casual weekend mountain biking etc, and then I got into dirtbiking. After...
