SolVista Opening Weekend - Triple DHip DH Stage Race

You guys probably already know this but...if Diablo isn't in your plans (and it should be if you have the means,) think about heading to SolVista this Memorial Day Weekend for three days of lift-served roughhousing. The TripleDHip DH Stage Race promises a$$loads of practice, three timed runs, a...

    Mt Snow Nationals

USAC Marathon NATS was held here in Breckenridge last weekend. There were athletes up on the podium that literally teared up when their jerseys were presented. I agree that the concept is special, it just seems as if it hasn't lived up to its potential over the past half decade. 7 or 8 years...

    Mt Snow Nationals

We bid for it for 2009 and 2010...for everything. DH, MX, DS, SD, XC, STXC. IF we're awarded the event by USAC we'll probably offer an unofficial stars and stripes jersey to the winner of both the beer crit and the pump track TT. Unfortunately, no matter how badly you mangle it, the event...

    Crankworx CO DH course?

Dunno about the Crankworks course, but there's an MSC in SolVista on the same weekend and the schedule's set up so that you can compete in both if you want. The Momentum Trail Concepts boys are building a new trail specifically for the event. We'll also be running a nightime dual slalom. Being...

    '08 USA Worlds Team Announced

Big House - great to hear from you. Congrats on making the team and declining the nomination. And you better satisfy that dining out jones right now...and go see a movie or two while you're at it, 'cuz all that stuff's coming to a rapid end. Geritt - man, what a great response. Your tact and...

    '08 USA Worlds Team Announced

Jeremy - if all that's true, then yeah, it's a huge oversight. I think we all want to see our very best head to Italy and compete and Gerritt's made a substantial case. Maybe something can still be done? ...and you're right, it's not AFR versus the Open. With the number of pros attending each...

    '08 USA Worlds Team Announced

I think that the Open is hugely significant, but for whatever reason, whether because of USAC or the folks that run it, it's not an official selection race. Riders that do well there deserve a long hard look, but because it exists outside of the USAC framework they may need to petition to get...

    '08 USA Worlds Team Announced

Hey DH Rules - USAC only took two pro men who also happened to compete at Angel Fire for their pro DH squad - Kain and Lars. Neither was an auto qualfier, yet both elected to follow the petition process, a process that was available to everyone. That rules of that process were published well in...

    '08 USA Worlds Team Announced

Yeah - I heard a bit about that, but you know that in the end, not one guy there wanted anything gifted to him. Kain was super-stoked with his time and place - that's why we're big supporters of his - he's humble, modest and still has that kid-like enthusiasm, even though he's 30. For a lot of...

    '08 USA Worlds Team Announced

Leonard was not automatic. USAC did not allow the highest American at Angel Fire (or the next eligible if the winner was already an auto qualifier) to get the automatic selection. He petitioned. MM

    '08 USA Worlds Team Announced

I know that a few of the selections that didn't meet automatic qualifying criteria petitioned to be included - that process is available to anyone. East coast/west coast bias? Personally, I don't think so - as a Coloradan I want the best Americans on the team wherever they might be from...

no more semi - ex class....?

I appreciate USAC's forward thinking stance on trying to make things better, but for what it's worth, Expert, Semi-Pro, Pro and JR X are all HUGE categories at our events. Vet Pro is off to an admittedly slow start - definitely not what we expected after the clamoring for it that we've...

UCI to require points to race World Cup in 09

About $1500 to inscript, about $5000 for officials (travel and fees, lodging not included) and about 8000 per discipline in prize money. First year events are only eligible for Class 2 status though. fees would be about the same but the prize money would be about $3000. MM

MSC #3, Angel Fire's Chile Challenge - event recap, Part 2

Hey BP - thanks. The list of folks who're responsible for that is pretty long, but it all starts at registration with Kim, Grace and Karen...and especially Tom Neer for writing the new registration program for us. This year's Chile was like a holiday compared to last years. See you in CB, MM
