This is the Shim Stack i found on my 2011 Boxxer.
I changed for a lighter spring and notice that the compression nobs did not make a lot of difference...
Anybody took their fork apart that can comment on this ?
Anyways i will put the little guy where i think it should go...
Hopefully it...
Go the Manitou web site and download the service guide for the Travis
Its a pretty descent damper.
There is no air, you need a vaccum tool but a Big syringe and a plastic bar end
will do the trick
And if you are going to open it i would recommend to take out the rebound piston and clean it...
I got a 08.5 / 09 team boxxer. (ran manitou and older boxxer for a years)
I took it apart and rebuilt it and i did notice when the compression is cranked she is locked, is this OK ?
I had Boxxers and Travis.
both very good forks. but it is true that the Travis needs a little more TLC.
Did not notice too much diving too..
And for now i just got myself the last version of the "old"
boxxer .. a 09.. looks like a great fork.
Did you open it to see what happen. ?
It happens .. sometime its just the rebound piston nut that unscrews it self..
Just need to rebuilt and a new oil..
Going from a Travis to a Boxxer.
I have readed in this forum that i should rebuild it even if its out of the box.
but should i do only oil and grease in the lowers or the hole MoCo rebuild ?
Also There is an old thread started by Udi saying that we should remove
the speedstack.
Still...
Piston orientation will be easy cause the bigger I.D. Shim can only go one way.
I called it a "valve" probably cause i was thinking "check valve" or as you say one-way valve.
Other than this little miss hap... the fork as been going great.
Thanks
Did the search thing, did not find what i needed.
maybe you guys can help.
Rebound valve assembly came apart.
Not too much damage.
but i need to put it back and i am not sure about the order of things
I found this image in the tech service Manual.
Here is what i have...
Well for what its worth
My BB7 i had to ride with more weight up front.
did not feel fast in corners.
My Glory DH have to ride with more weight center and back.
Feels like its turning lot faster.
But the Glory seems to slow down more in the "rock gardens" compared
to the BB7 but...
