    Open Source Downhill Project

2010 Giant Glory with 13.6" BB and 63 deg. HA

In response to the issues / Q's: - Dropmachine your right, there is no room: The bearing no longer fits inside the headtube for the upper cup - in order for it to be offset it is packaged in a similar way to a 'standard' headset. Upper cup is on left of picture: This would be the...

    Stripping Anodizing

Removing ano is removing material so dont go mental mental, if you have interference fit bearings in the linkage you would end up with poor tolerances (you would have to leave it for a fair while though or do it a more than once)or pitting etc as kidwithbike said. I have used 'caustic soda'...

    951 link bearing removal?

Use a socket, a bolt long enough and a couple of washers with a nut on the end to make a bearing puller, its nicer than using a hammer, especially if they are tight - I have worked on a few Intense frames in the same way. Rick

    Inserts to slacken headtube

With a 5.1" HT you can use cups designed for 5.00" headtubes with no problems at all (we do a -1deg or the K9 ones for -2deg) Its only 2.54mm, the cups would align just fine and there would be no trade-off in bearing life etc.

    Inserts to slacken headtube

BuckoW - thats a good, simple solution to the 'problem' of semi-integrated upper tapered headtubes. AzNDevil - Our cups were made within tolerances specified on Cane Creeks technical manuals for this type of headset / bearing - they are tight i agree, the best way to install is pop them in a...
