There are some big changes coming for 2016 which I would expect out mid 2015, air side will be like the new 36, and supposedly dropping 1/2 lb in weight are the 2 big things. Taking all the mechanical bits out of the current and incorporating the same as the current 36" is a big upgrade from...
Not sure about the parts that were replaced, just told there were a number of updates available and Fox provides them free of charge. My understanding is the 40 will be getting rid of all the mechanical parts in the air chamber like the 36 for 2016 model (and dropping some more weight as well)...
After getting mine re-built @ Suspensionwerx with latest up-grades (18 new parts I was told) I'm setting it up completely different than before, old settings:
LS +2
HS +5
RBD +8
PSI 62.5
new settings:
LS +6
HS +6
RBD +7
PSI 70
On a carbon Devinci Wilson with CCDB, weigh 165 w/o gear, riding...
I'm on a Rocky Altitude 790 and it's soooo much fun to ride, has yet to let me down, even with the Fox 34 fork everyone hates. Flys uphill, & humps up & over big rocks, stumps etc that I'd get hung up on with my Slayer. Super playful on the down, plow, manual, jump, does what you tell it to do...
Any time I've stored a bike with Shimano brakes in some funky way resulting in the brake lever squeezing to the bar I've found pumping it 20 - 30 times has forced air out and problem solved. Hopefully works for you.
He signed again last off season. Also there's more reasons for Steve to stick with Devinci for him than just who has the most money. He's been with Gabe Fox since he was racing for the Cove as a kid, some deep roots there that have been together since day 1.
3 I ride on a regular basis, and all carbon, life doesn't suck
Carbon Devinci Wilson - DH
Rocky Mountain Altitude 790 - trail, am, enduro, whatever you want to call it
Rocky Mountain Prestige 30 CR - road
I just use a gortex shell ski jacket, a little pricey but works better than anything else i've ever tried, always dry, breathes, a tougher in the high wear spots. I'd look around for deals on last year inventory, or even used to save a few bucks if price is an issue.
Over time rubber hardens and has a "shelf life", end result is your 3 year old brand new super tacky's aren't that tacky after sitting in a warehouse or basement fot 3 years
I run 721's with 440 hubs as my regular set up and have found them to be a lot stronger, although there is a definate weight savings with Easton's. To be fair I'm riding in North Van and Whistler, taking some significant rock hits so mine might not be a totally fair review depending on where...
destroyed a couple rears faster than i would have liked, replaced the front bearings after 6 months, & the one thing i don't like is they are 28 hole so it's only replaceable with a Easton Havoc rim (that I'm aware of), otherwise they are really light and it's noticable riding them. not sure I'd...
It's the new Rocky Mtn Flatline and there are a number of guys with them, Biluk, Bryson, Adrianno along with a number of Rocky employees, they are now on the 2nd Generation, been around for a while. Also expect to see some new Slayer proto's around.
Another vote for the Wilson, I'm 6' and really like the way the large fits, I've found that it's still playful while eating up the ground, corners like crazy. And the CCDB with the new 40 float matched up is soooo much fun.
Just pull the lowers off and drain out the oil in and replace, really simple, unbolt and lightly tap the lowers. If you're not sure how just google it or Fox should have on their website. Each side should have 50 CC's.
