Riding scene in Portland vs. Denver

I live in Denver and the riding scene is kinda lame. Definitely very xc/fitness oriented. Trails have to be very dry to ride or they will be easily damaged. There isn't real dirt here, it's all cumbly dust and broken down rock. I call this the gravel mountains instead of the rocky mountains. /rant

    In Seattle on vacation.....Let's ride!

Hey guys, I'm in town on vacation from Denver. I brought my downhill bike and have gotten out to Duthie for a day already. I'd like to hit up a resort while I'm here to check out the local flavor of trails. Most of my friends in the area either don't ride downhill anymore, don't have a bike...

New(ish) to the area, looking for shuttle spots

Good point. Okay, change of topic. Anyone out there have Wednesdays off and care to show me around some trails? I've got a potential shuttle vehicle (reliability is a little subject) or gas money. I'm just dying to get out and ride. This new Huffy wont ride itself.....

New(ish) to the area, looking for shuttle spots

Thanks for the advice, anything is helpful. To elaborate on my situation, I used to ride and race plenty of Downhill when I lived on the east coast. Last summer I went to WP a few times on a borrowed bike, and realized how much I missed dh bikes. I was bored with wp pretty quickly, and decided...

Noob. Need some advice, much appreciated.

Rear shock service can range from $40 to a couple hundred, but most only need a $40 service. If you don't have a reputable shop nearby, you can find some easy "how-to" videos online to help you through it. There are so many factors of wear on a mountain bike that it's kind of hard to tell how...

New(ish) to the area, looking for shuttle spots

Hey everybody! I've been away from riding downhill for a few years, but now I'm back. I don't want to wait until the resorts open to get out on my new bike. I live in Denver, and all of my riding friends are into XC type stuff. Anybody out there have good pointers on where to find some...

    Home heat molding shoes

I have the 1st gen mountain shoes. m-300? Definitely worth getting everything fully set up. Our shop got the oven and the training, then we did shoes for all the employees who bought some. It's not difficult, just helps to have all the proper stuff. I wouldn't want to try to duplicate it at...

    2010 Oscars Drinking Game

I think that if I stick to the rules, I'd get alcohol poisoning. So I guess I need a sober buddy to drive me to the ER.

    Contemplating a long road trip

I did a nice roadtrip last fall for a solid 6 weeks. 3 were spent in a hostel, and maybe another week was spent with friends, the rest was camping in some sort. I had some stretches where I would drive for 2 days without stopping. For those days I would usually sleep in the passenger seat of...

    CL Project Bike

27 for a steel bike is still pretty good. Of course it's different than your Echo, but how do you compare it? Is it better at anything, or just a tank in general?

    Pimp Bike!

more pimp points gained, I dig the "normal" XTR versus that shadow crap. I say that we should either use a derailleur that works and could be ripped off, or no derailleur at all. Not one that sort of works and can still be ripped off or bent by a stick.

Who is NOT watching the game?

packing some recently sold items to ship tomorrow, and then off to work. I watch about half a football game a year. Usually during thanksgiving, since my family's hobby is being fat on the couch and talking stats.
