The shape of things to come...

Wow! Thanks CMC for blowing the dust off this thread! I just went back an reread the whole thing, then went out and took the bike for a spin. :thumb: Hey Dave, I hope you are well. Do you still have the Molly? Take care, Greg

    Short CS Cruiser race frames

Thanks Cru! I've discovered that for BMX racing the shorter stays work really well for shorter, and / or younger riders and tight tracks. But if the rider is very powerful the short stays can result in carrying the front wheel too easily out of the gate. A higher bottom bracket can have...

    Under the Radar

I've been meaning to make these drop outs for a while. Sleeker, lighter, and already sold... Note: They still need a rad. cut in the back for the fork leg. I need to get going on another pair for the new bike... Greg

    Under the Radar

Slim, the headtubes on both white bikes I made from 1.75" OD 4130. It's the fork steerer tube that makes it look seamless. Now the headtube on the black frame I purchased. For what I can buy it for, it's not worth it for me to make one. Actually I'll be buying my integrated headtubes from now...

    Under the Radar

Thanks guys! Yes, I still have the 26". She's retired now. She had a minor make-over before leaving: Fresh white powdercoat and some new NS District bars. I did make a new flush top cap for her. It's 'see through' :) She likes suede... ServeEm, I like all sizes! I'm...

    Under the Radar

Thank you Trib! The frame in the first pic is actually matte black. The gray bike I was referring to is the charcoal bike I built previously. I like the new decals as well. Greg

    Under the Radar

I've been kinda flying under the radar lately. Busy trying to keep my regular business afloat. It hasn't been an easy year. Regardless, I did build a couple frames and forks I'd like to share with you all. This will be my race cruiser for next year. Aero butted DT and CS, butted tubing...

How much does Powdercoat add to the weight of a bicycle frame

Hey Guys, I was just sharing some information that I thought might be of interest to others. This is where I’ve posted in the past so that’s why I gravitated here. Next time I’ll hit up the Shop / Tech section. (I should really explore the breadth of which RM has to offer.) Stoked, I’ve...

How much does Powdercoat add to the weight of a bicycle frame

This is a question I’ve heard asked numerous times and always wondered myself. I’ve heard a wide range of speculation but never an accurate answer…until now. I recently had the opportunity to use an incredibly accurate scale to weigh a frame I built prior to and following powdercoating. The...

    "4-pc is back!"

Cru, I just sold some of those ELF 6 pc bars on Ebay... For $157.50  I sold them to help out a friend who needs the cash. I have his JMC Shadow on there now as well. Take care, Greg

The shape of things to come...

I supplied the flare/crown race @ the steer tube, the drop outs, 20mm axles and conical washers. The rest is all Marty. Thanks Zeronine (awsome handle btw)! It's been awhile since I've looked at pics of the cream bike with that fork on it. I like the current fork better... Take...

The shape of things to come...

Ha Ha. Try an arm brace....from shoulder surgery. Torn rotator cuff, bone spurs, and needed a Mumford procedure on my clavicle. Not fun. Surgery was scheduled for last October but I had to cancel because I bought and sold some property and moved my home & shop. Whew! Bike related news...

    Old School Rules

Nice Nice Nice! That JMC has been on quite a journey! Glad you got it back. Funny, I recently repaired a Hutch that looked like it had been welded by the same guy. GM

    Speaking of street cruisers...

I'd like to meet this Melms guy everybody admires so much... Yeah I've been busy like Thrillseeka said. Lot's of stuff going on. Most of it non bike related. But hey I'll take it while I can get it in this economy. And Thrillseeka I've said it before, you crack me up man!!! Hey...

    building a frame

Congrats on building your own frame! I'm not sure what your skillset is but if you've never fabricated anything before I suggest the following, irrespective of geometry: Get comfortable TIG welding thinwall tubing. Very comfortable. Hopefully you can already TIG weld. Practice...

    Converting 20mm hub to 3/8"???

Yes Cru, you'd have to turn those shoulders down to the OD of the axle. Then it will slide in your existing 20mm hub. You still need some sort of cone / spacers that will result in an overall width of 100mm though. But I suppose if you can turn the axle down, you can also remove 5mm from...

    Converting 20mm hub to 3/8"???

Cru, I'm actually making an axle right now (well not RIGHT now) to adapt a 20mm Profile non disc front hub to a Black Market rigid for a friend. If you need anything, I'd be happy to help. GM JJJKKK: That's a good idea for those who already have a Marmoset and want to switch...

    My Satellite is done.

I'm adding this to my (very short) list of all time favorite bikes. Also probably one of the nicest (gloss) black bikes I've seen. I've seen 2 Supercos in person and they are very very nice frames. Enjoy that slick ride! GM
