new cromo frame, cromo fork, cromo bars, and alloy seatpost. everything that comes stock on that bike is high-tensile steel (heavy). The frame only has one tube made of cromo (downtube), all other tubes are hi-ten steel.
If you're looking for huck style stuff I'd recommend skipping York River or any other trail in the area for that matter. All trails in the area are XC specific. The good stuff you hear about the local trails is coming from XC riders, so don't rely too much on the feedback. You'll be disappointed...
not much around the w&m campus. there are a couple of hubba ledges around some stair sets and some planter ledges that are fun to manual. but those may be difficult with a full squish. there is the sunken garden that you could gap to flat if you're into that. it's definitley a respectable drop...
This Thursday night at 7:00pm the first meeting of the Hampton Roads Free Rider's Guild is set to happen. We are a new IMBA club in the area interested in free riding, dirt jumping, drops, stunts and challenging riding.
We're meeting at:
Firkin & Frigate Pub
711 Thimble Shoals Boulevard...
Thanks for the sentiment guys.
I nose-cased one of our new doubles out at Gatewood. Got launched over the bars and flew straight to flat. No smooth transition to slow the fall. All shoulder into the hardpack.
The prognosis is good though. No surgery needed. Just physical therapy. My physical...
I tore my right rotator cuff on Sunday. Nose cased a double and augered my shoulder in from about 6 or so feet up. Lucky I didn't destroy my ACL or break my clavicle.
So I won't be able to come out for who knows how long. We'll see how the recovery goes.
Williamsburg, VA has a nice cement skatepark and no bikes are allowed. Their excuse is bikes are dangerous to skateboarders in a collision. WTF? Tell the skater not to run into a bike again.
Exactly RTF!
SK6 you can't come on here and make a remark like this and when questioned about it come back with a "huh." You appear to have some sort of inside knowledge and we want to know what you know.
Remember we're talking about a park facility that was advertised as such. Destroying an...
What do you mean sirknight6? Who rubbed somebody the wrong way and who could've been rubbed that had the power to tear down the trails other than the city?
That's an interesting take you have on this whole situation.
I posted this on the Virginia forum but I don't think many folks really care over there. It's a story about a DJ trail in Chesapeake VA that got dozed. Ipswich for those who have been here before.

The following is a post found on another MTB discussion board. I thought you all might find it interesting and heartbreaking...
Death of a Spot
Dirt jumping, from its inception has been and will always be a fringe sport. It involves higher risks, bigger rewards, and a special set of skills...
Oh and BTW, the pumptrack just ain't gonna happen. It's obvious that most riders in this area should all just go out and buy roadbikes. If anyone else is interested feel free to practice futility. I don't care anymore, I've got dirt jumps, skateparks, and a BMX track.
RTF, I've got the next two weekends two-blocked but I'll have time after that. I'll come out and lend a hand. You should consider coming over to Gatewood and lending a hand out here. Ian, Mac (new guy but good rider), and assorted others (including Ian's wife!) have made alot of progress out...
KKK, you are correct in that there is little participation in trail building/maintenance, though there are some dedicated folks. But this is where your logic is seriously flawed... waiting for something to be built before you lend something so simple as a name in support is a sure fire way to...
