If you're travelling a long way to ride Jackson/Teton Pass -- make sure you check the weather first. The dirt there turns into a combination of pottery clay/axle grease when wet. I found that out the hard way last October. Man, that sucked. But I only drove 3 hours to get there. Seriously...
I've had meniscus repair/removal in both knees two years ago and walked out of both surgeries. On my right knee, I rode my commuter bike the next day, and needed only one vicoden post surgery. It's really not a big deal until you get into acl/mcl repair.
Thank you for actually responding with something relevant to my original post. That's actually something I don't like about the Remedy's aesthetics -- it just looks round like a basketball, at least looking at it from the front. The side profile looks fine.
^^Thank you for that. I'm mostly just concerned that it will be too much like the Remedy, which I think is very oversized and ugly (what can I say, fashion matters too). Also, I'm hoping to shave at least 1/2 pound off my current helmet.
I have tried on several POC helmets and found them...
I'm in the market for a new DH helmet. My trusty Giro Madmax II is getting old and has had a few crashes, plus I'm interested in getting something lighter. Most of the riding I do is non-lift-accessed but pretty much out and back, grind to the top and then rip it up on the way back down. So...
I didn't think it hurt that bad when I tried it last summer. What hurt was when I began my final "dh" section and found myself in need of a road bike.
My idea of enduro racing would include a 3500+ foot sustained climb followed by a world cup level descent complete with hucks that CANNOT be...
Hi folks. My dad and I are going to fly to Phoenix a few days after Christmas to get out of the cold for a few days. We are probably just going to rent bikes rather than transport ours (perhaps cheaper to rent bikes). We've ridden in Phoenix (South Mountain) and in Tuscon at various...
I may have been spoiled, but I've skied 2 ft. powder days for practically my whole life. It's not that uncommon here. And yes, to set things straight, I DO enjoy that kind of experience. I'd have to be crazy to say I "don't like" skiing 2+ feet of power. Still, I prefer to rip a nice trail...
Nobody forced you to read it, so quit complaining. Out of all the poor decisions I've made in my life, staying in my HOME state was not one of them. I also never said anything about blowing any brains out either. I simply don't get a hard-on when the ski-resorts open, as so many seem to do...
Lol, I already do. That's largely what keeps me sane in the winter -- but it still doesn't replace physical activity. As much as I'm a fan of Opeth, I don't find myself trying to play their stuff as much. I play more "riffy" stuff, if you will. I play a lot of songs in the vein of At the...
I think you're right about a lot of things. I have a lot to be happy for, and I certainly appreciate where I live. I was born here and have traveled all over the world, so I know what's out there. I don't fly-fish and I don't listen to bluegrass (extreme metal is where it's at \m/ :) That...
This is really the key to my problem. It isn't the severity/coldness/amount of snow -- it's the length of time that it's dark outside and/or winter conditions. I wouldn't mind as much if winter only lasted 4-5 months. But around here, you really can't ride a bike in the mountains for 7-8...
Maybe I'm a "terrible" person for not liking resort skiing then. I've been skiing at resorts since I was 10 (a long, long time ago). I just don't get excited about it anymore.
This is getting off topic, but are you joking? Telemark technology has improved GREATLY in the past 10 years (my gear is about 12-15 years old). To say what you said, I'm not sure you even know what modern 'telemarking' is. Modern gear takes a lot of the work out of it (though it's still more...
To clarify, what I do on telemark skis is nothing like XC skiing or skate skiing. I do not enjoy XC skiing at all, unless it's true backcountry skiing where I am skinning straight up a mountain to get some nice powder runs. XC and skate skiing are completely different sports that I don't...
I say "cope" because I find myself increasingly agitated and depressed as I've watched my local trails get buried in snow over the past few weeks.
Before you say "Ski/Snowboard" I'll tell you that I live within 20 minutes of some of the best skiing in N. America -- it doesn't do it for me...
I just wanted to give you guys an update (since I may have bashed Avid a little much). Avid replaced not only my defective front brake (Elixir 7), they replaced my perfectly good rear brake as well -- free of charge. Not only that, they replaced them with Trail 7s, WITH new rotors as well.
I...
