    Ft William Live!

How the hell did Minnaar do that? He made a full second on Hill in the last 35 seconds of track! Scratch that... He made 1.86s up in the last 36secs of track - even more

Kovarik takes the hot seat with 15 (*edit: there was more like 20 to come, but whatever, Leov is in the seat now) riders to come!

You all know that Sam wore the pink gear to support research for a cure and to raise awareness for breast cancer right? Hence the eBay auction of said gear.

Please guys... drop the negativity and the egos

There's a pic of an actual socket with a message written on it directed at 'Socket' that would be perfect to post right now... (any long time Farkin posters should know what I'm talkin bout) :brow:

Have you had a bad day cupcake?

As mentioned a couple of posts earlier, at one stage the fire front was advancing at around 100kph (60mph), just try to imagine that. It was one of, if not the hottest day on record and very, very windy. Couple this with the extremely dry conditions and you have pretty much the worst conditions...

    Mick Hannah on Mongoose

If Mongoose were smart, they'd be making sure a close relation to Mick had one of their bikes under her at every world cup round as well! Man I hope Tracey gets a ride this year - I mean who else is (or was) looking like being able to take it up to Rach? Someone get her on a decent team!

IronHorse 2009 - no DW Link!

Maybe... Giant buys out Dave's design, the DW-Link 'name' dissapears & Giant keep using the Maestro. Maestro suddenly evolves into something almost identical to the DW-Link. Dave uses the money from the deal to develop & bring the split pivot to market?

    Pull Shock bikes

Wouldn't surprise me. From reading the website I get the impression that they like to do things their own way. Interesting that they spec Marzocchi up the front, thought they might have had something a bit rarer & more exotic to match the rest of the bike. edit: i2i = 228mm, stroke = 68mm...

    Pull Shock bikes

Yep, they call their suspension system 'pull shock'. BUT... The shock absorber that is used in their so called 'pull shock' system is a regular shock absorber that could be swapped out with a revox, DHX, Avy, CCDB or any other conventional shock with the right eye to eye & stroke. (save for...

    Pull Shock bikes

Yep, and that better image of the bike shows pretty clearly that is NOT a 'pull shock'. They custom build their own shocks & have the reservoir positioned in a pretty unconventional way, but that’s about it. It's basically the same suspension design as a Brooklyn RaceLink.

    Course Tape Dispenser design

For those wanting to try to re-use bunting, some of these reels would be worth a try. http://www.gallagher.ca/fence_components.aspx?mktcatid=363 Although I can't recall ever seeing any of these being used at races.

    Which way is she spinning?

First the nipples went counter clockwise, then, after a bit of staring the nipples went clockwise! Then I could see nipples spinning left or right whenever I wanted!!!

    G-BOXX Planetary, first pics

Cool pics, looks like there are magnets next to the selecting dogs. (see pic) Constant mesh 9spd gearbox, wonder what the efficiency is like? Can't see why it wouldn't be as good or better than a rohloff.

    the gearbox thread

Yeah, it is pretty bloody heavy! Hopefully it can be refined & developed over the next couple of years to a point where use as a gearbox in a DH bike is an attractive option. It will be interesting to see how it's development goes, not just for bicycle's but in other applications as well.

    the gearbox thread

Looks like Ellsworth have released the first full production bike with the continuously variable ratio NuVinci hub. It is just a weird looking cruiser, but at least the hub is finally on the market. Look down near the bottom of the page here: Ellsworth Bikes (it's called 'the ride') Also the...

    G-BOXX Planetary, first pics

The planetary gear-hub (ie. rohloff) is similar to an auto tranny from a car in that the both use planetary gear-sets to obtain the different ratios, however, the way in which the ratios are selected are completely different. A scaled down motorcycle gearbox could work, but I suspect that to...

That's spot on what I was thinking, you don't need me to sketch it now. This is pretty cool, seeing the development of this concept in real time with input from people at opposite sides of the world!

An idea to reduce the number of holes required: With a bit of clever hole spacing, you could have two head angle settings one way (say 66 & 64). Then you turn the head tube upside down & use the same holes to get 65 & 63 degrees. Only problem with this is that it would mean removing the...
