Welcome!
I've ridden the 2008 WC ATA back then, the boxxer team afterwards, and now the 2012 Evo Ti.
The EVO is hands down the best fork of them all. The 6.5 spring is spot on for my 175lbs. LSC adjuster works very well.
The RC3 was let down by somewhat sticky ATA cartridge, and the damping was...
This is ridiculous. Why all the envy.
People had been supporting other brands for years, waiting equally as long for frames that were almost as expensive as the YT complete. Same goes for Shimano and Sram preorders. Preordering the bikes in this quantity creates opportunity to save money for...
Whatever rim you choose, you'll get away with lighter upfront. Softer metal will dent and roll on, harder will break spokes or itself. DT's are OK if softer, Mavic too. I've seen both explode or hold the abuse, depends on weight, riding style and... luck too :thumb:
rebound is ported and compression is no wonder either, as you can't control the floodgate without modding the comp assy (which is also prone to fall apart). i rode that fork on a new bike and it felt very harsh. my 10 team feels much nicer in comparison.
I've run 3C Minions tubeless since early 2010.
With strips and latex, I've barely ever lost any pressure.
With 823 and latex, I always lose some pressure during storage, so I need to top the pressure before riding (which is a good practice anyway).
Both setups have been 100% reliable while...
Depends on what you aim to do. I don't need a much lower BB, thanks. I had one and kept bending chain devices and crank spiders on it. The 2deg headset was all I needed. Slackened the HA and effectively increased wheelbase, which was much welcome on my short frame.
No. It's a semi-integrated design with 44mm cups for 1 1/8 steerer, no matter what CRC says. I was clever enough to gather this before I ordered my headset.
The original bike had a zerostack HS and 134mm headtube. The Works headset added about 20mm stack height, so I needed a tall crown and...
Just got back from a week in Morzine. I really like this bike. Despite its modest amount of travel, I never felt left behind. The rate is really progressive with very soft initial stroke, which ensures a very comfy and confident ride. I ditched the stock Vivid which was valved like crap, and...
That's probably because the HT was too tight. Mine went in TOO EASY!!! I'd swear I could feel the cups move once the HS got loose. So I think it may have something to do with the HT design, rather than with the Works cups.
Good but heavy and not overly cheap. You can have a boxxer race at this price if you look around on german sites. Same fork but over a pound lighter alloy chassis.
You can adjust your cockpit length by moving your saddle and changing stem length. For your size, a ballpark of 555-580mm should be fine. But pay attention to seat and head angles, as well as wheelbase and chainstay lengths. They do matter a lot. Especially the CS, SA and TT have to be...
The bike has arrived. I ordered the Works components EC44 2deg headset and simulated how the bike will look like with 2deg offset. The result is very good.
Now if I'd only known before that I would need a longer steerer because of the external headset cups!!!
Bump, I ordered one for my Radical this Monday.
Wonder why Rick never replies to e-mails and won't even send an order confirmation. Seems kinda stupid knowing he has a good product.
You may be better off asking on PB, because few guys on this board actually ride Konas. My experience with Kona has been good, and I'd definitely rock this bike stock, as is. Maybe add a pair of stan's rim strips and you're good to go.
