    BMW E39 540i owners out there? other cool options?

    I was seriously considering one before my current car fell into my lap. Pros: Good looking car Cheap for what it is lots of support/info out there if you're a diy type apparently reasonably reliable decent mileage for what it is. My uncle pulls low 20s mixed without trying in his...

    I need a tablet

    Higher res screen too. Handy comparo on Engadget I've got a mac and an iphone, but I'd probably go with the nexus7 over any ipad if it was my $$.

    Print your own gun

    You don't need a 3d printer to paint a toy gun black which would net you the same result. If you were actually evil and trying to build an undetectable gun you could've used a cheap bench top milling station to cut a plastic one (that would stand a significantly higher chance of working) in your...

    Macbook VS. PC

    The price delta isn't really THAT huge if you compare to high end PC stuff. The macbook air isn't too far off of the ~$1100 pc "ultrabook" and my m6500 is about the same less than the 17" mac book pro. I'm not sure that the delta is actually justifiable, I've never owned or worked with a Mac...

    Medical/dental tourism...anyone?

    My mom and step dad had some dental work done in Mexico, it was cheap and the doc did quality work. Apparently it's a pretty popular thing to do down there.

    Dear Audi, Your cars suck.

    Please tell me more. I need/want to replace my old toyota pickup with a wagon body for bike/camp/light expo type duty and I've read a couple times that the older monteros are a solid option. Edit: I've had a few issues with my brothers 1.8t b4, but they've been ridiculously easy to diagnose and...

    Advice on buying my first Motorcycle?

    I was looking for pretty much the same thing ages ago, I wanted a KLR or a DRZ at the time. Maybe there's a better fit these days... here's what I learned: Take MSF all the gear all the time Start small Everyone else is trying to kill you There was no way in hell I was going to get it by...

    raptors are nice.....

    Including the purchase price of the truck and the parts/labor to make it brand new in and out? Or $30k to take my 225k toyota from dog slow worn out and beat down to dog slow worn out, beat down and rolling on an extremely capable long travel setup?

    Engine builders VW 12valve VR6 misfire...stumped.

    Ran into a similar problem with my brothers 1.8t and it turned out the ignition control module took a dump. Bad misfire on cyl one that didn't follow the coil pack and didn't go away when we replaced the plugs. Apparently its (another) common failure on the 1.8t, not sure if it even exists on a vr6.

    Cheap exotic rental cars?

    It's was just under $500 total for a 'vette over a weekend from enterprise with all the extra coverage/taxes/surcharges and such. Pretty sure the camaro would have been $3-400, don't remember for sure though. Had to go through an airport branch to get anything intersting at all.

    New Glasses

    I had pretty much exactly the same problem when I switched to contacts. They rounded my prescription up and it absolutely destroyed me at work but I was way better than 20/20 at any distance. The Dr. aught to take care of it with a smile, I've never had any issues at all getting problems like...

    Someone stole the catalytic converter off of my truck - WTF?!

    Toyota, probably a 4x4 right? Bastards cut mine out in the parking lot at work, broad daylight between 8 and 5. Unreal. The OE part was crazy expensive, but an aftermarket one was only a couple hundred bucks welded in.

    Taipei bike show, complete with Engrish.

    Lol, I was there a few months ago. The worst thing I ate by far was a burger... Mos burger wasn't bad tho. Neat city, is the scooter army pic by the huashan creative park?

    First Triathlon Help.

    I did a super sprint a while back and learned a couple things: 1. I won't even consider doing it again without really training for the swim. I thought I was an OK swimmer, and the distance covered in an SS tri *seemed* really short. I was very wrong, and it was pretty obvious that a lot of...

    why it's good to live in Ca in the winter

    All of CA is *exactly* like Stockton. No, really! I hear Colorado and Oregon are pretty sweet though, everyone should go there instead.

    Truck shifting advice (automatic)

    In some (most?) cases OD off is also tow/haul mode which may change shifting behavior for all gears in addition to locking out 6th. How about using that fake sports mode? Will it hold the gear you select or does it do whatever the hell it wants?

    SS = Quiet & Awesome

    32-18 on a 26" bike and it's fairly hilly around here. I initially set it up 32/20 but found it worked better for me to stand up and mash with slightly higher gearing at the expense of being able to sit and spin.

    SS = Quiet & Awesome

    Mine are quite a bit quieter than my brothers hopes. Not silent though, they're a bit louder than shimano.

    "I drive a SUV because I feel safer in it"

    Yup, most folks seem to buy the nicest car they can afford. Age plays into this as well, in general younger folks don't have $$ so they end up in a car like the Rio. The actual crash testing is probably more telling.
