I like my poc trabec and it's less than the tectal. I couldn't say if the visor helps much as I generally ride in the woods. I forget I have it on
edit.. although it might have less protection than the tectal?
99.9% suck because of subjective reasons or objective? If the latter what is the market missing?
To me it just seems like buyers want too many different conflicting features (i.e. full out no-kidding protection vs. something lightweight that only covers half the leg for breathability and can...
I've got a pair of long in the tooth POC bone VPD guards that I am tired of stitching back together so I'm looking for something new. Probably one of the best features of these pads is the articulating knee (see picture) and I would really like to find something that has this feature. The...
"Superlube 00 Grease" is what I used after research. This is the smallest container I have seen for it:
http://www.amazon.com/Stens-SUPER-GREASE-OUNCE-770-127/dp/B009AM4FJQ
It has a very low viscosity but I haven't had issues with it leaking out.
UST DH Minions. Super expensive and punctured really easily (1-2 runs down the mountain). I bought three and tried two without stans and one with Stans for the same results. It upset me enough that I sent them back to Maxxis (who then performed a product analysis and concluded [in better words]...
Just got to top cap off (I swear I have been fooling with this thing for a while before posting). A little bit of heat did the trick. The inner shaft instantly became easier to turn and I was able to see some dirt inside this unit.
To prevent from maring the ends I wrapped the tube in masking...
I went to change my oil this weekend and found I could not turn my end stroke rebound knob in the process (red dial)
The beginning stroke rebound (grey dial) appears to function as normal.
I've pulled the assembly out and found that by inserting a hex wrench into the slot the red dial normally...
If you pick up an older gpx, make sure you flip the plastic nuts that support the back piece that pushes against your helmet. You'll get an extra bit of travel.
I'm trying out jwick's use of a zee derallieur with a x9 shifter using a 6mm spacer I machined myself.
This is on my 2011 canfield jedi.
I'm using the DH zee and I'm using a 28-12 cassett.
I can shift through all the gears and shifting up doesn't seem to be an issue, but I have issues...
 DAMN! I have no doubts the pads worked.. but I really can't imagine anything causing that much damadge to them. Very impressive. I hope you kissed your kneecaps after that.
So the cold will make the VPD hard (less pliable might be a better term), but that shouldn't affect their...
I forgot to mention that in both pairs of POC VPD pads I got, the orange square (it's a piece of rubber that connects the white kneecap to the white shin plastic) gave out pretty quick (a few months). Fishing line will fix this.
I use the Poc Bone VPD and will be moving away from them.
The good:
- Excellent protection above the knee
- Optional pads on back let you slam your pedals against the back of your calves without any fear of bleeding out.
- No knee chafing due to the kneecap thing that is separate from the...
I made it through the whole weekend without a single flat. It was a good weekend :)
It took me 3 years to learn non-UST 3c minions work better than any of the UST counterparts.
I'm 5'7" and have a medium 2011. The sizing feels perfect to me and I find I have a tendency to prefer smaller frames. I would not get a small at 5'8"
As far as the bike goes, I love it! It's just repetition at this point in the thread, but it's great with the rough stuff.. so much so that I...
Around 2500$-3000$
At least half of that of that is from driving to the local dh spot and shuttling. Coincidentally, that's also how I get the most wear on my truck.
