    The new Katipo proto

Well just finished the 6" travel trail proto, still need some finishing touches but had to take it out for a ride! frame weight should come under 6.5 lbs with out the rear shock. now all the hard work test riding begins

    The new Katipo proto

Not at the moment, I'm not sold on 29ers but maybe 26 rear/29er front might work out ok?

    The new Katipo proto

Pedaling with out the idler would be like riding on a kangaroo! I have ridden a Kona stab and that was bad enough. really you dont want any "antisquat" IMO but because bike suspension has chain toque as the dominant force there will always be issues with acceleration forces, using one force...

    The new Katipo proto

Man always cool to hear about people enjoying riding on the frames! weight is 9lbs with out shock or axle. @rosenamedpoop, For now staying with 1 1/8" head tube, frame wise there's no real advantage going to 1 1/5" head tube for steel frames, this time going for one shock size at 240 mm with...

    The new Katipo proto

Hey thanks skids! Good to hear you like how they ride Goodbyeporkpie, yeah the bikes do run real freakishly silent! The standard (large) Geo is HA 63.5 BB hight 14" Wheel base 46" Chain stays 16 3/4" Still have to determine pricing but will start at around $1600 nzd with out shock. Scott

    The new Katipo proto

Hello all, Well after a break from build frames for a while I'm back and getting set back up to start building frames again with this updated version, also working on a single pivot trail bike and may do a single pivot downhiller for those that are not fussed on linkages, idlers and stuff...

    Lahr Carbon Gear Box bike

There's no doubt that the lahar is fast! the long chain stays do hold back the fun factor but for a bike with such long stays and wheel base it sure does turn well for a bike with those dimensions. the lahar is still far from perfect and if I a choice between one with a gear box or with out I...

    2011 Devinci Wilson DH

Not too bad, but the main pivot needs to be a bit higher with an idler then it'll be sweet :thumb:

Spoted! NEW 2011 demo 8 in Portugal

Hey just looking at the main frame it looks like a pretty close layout to my katipo, with the positon of the link, swing arm mounts and shock also the framing arond the shock and so on, or am I way off??

    Suspension debate about anti-squat

Well Im trying to get what all this talk about "anti-squat" is in this thread?(I dont have the patience to read it all) from what I can gather it's about anti-squat from chain torque? or am I missing something? Here's my take on it. Using chain torque for "anti-squat" or to do anything...

    new ghost DH

Yeah if you only look at what the suspension is doing then the horst link works a treat but if you take into account the effects on the frame's geometry the reality is a different story.

    new ghost DH

Well its about time someone used the horst link in this lay out, I'm sure it'll work great, tho I'm not a fan of how the horst link reacts to braking forces. I was looking at building pretty much the same thing a few years back but went for the single hi pivot/linkage design instead.

2010 Marzocchi 888 Evo tuning thread

Ok I'm looking at getting a 2010 888 WC or a good deal on a 2009 888 WC, so the question is what one to get and how do the 2009 and 2010 WC compare?

    White bros....bro

I've had some 180s, they were okish. If your not too heavy they might be alright as they do flex some, I needed firmer springs but could not get ahold of any. they also dont have much trail so your wheel base will be up to 3/4" shorter with the 180s The 200s should be better as they have...

my new katipo frame, now built!

Well there's more than one way to skin a cat and this is how I skin em, Bike's looking good Jimmy. I should know in a few days if I'll be free to go to Roto on wednesday if there's a spare spot for me? I'm itching to try out my new gravity 777 bars.

    moto for downhill

    I loathe 4 strokes

    moto for downhill

I would recommend a small bore 2 stroke like the ktm 200 or 125 mx, I ride a RM 125, its like DH bike with a engine and the lack of engine braking is awesome on the down hills, this is where for me 4 strokes suck. But 125s are not the easiest to ride for newbies.

    World Champs Thread

At first I didnt think much of all that wind tunnel testing by trek, but when I hear speeds of 50kph to 60kph it gets me thinking..... If Justin runs all that aero gear I'd say he will do very well, closely followed by UCI rule changes???
