What about the trails near Morgan Hill/San Martin. I know COE is massive and hopefully has maps so I don't get lost. Harvey Bear isn't too large to get lost and never find your way back. Anything around San Jose Campbell Saratoga trail that could be fun.....thought there was a place further...

How about a thursday ride? I'm usually off work around 630. Nothing too difficult for that time. I still have to drive home a half hour so I'd prefer not to die. Maybe something that takes an hour or so....remember I'm new to this stuff.

yes it is a 7 speed shifter I have and I'm trying to find out if I can use a 9 speed derailleur. I have an oppertunity to get a good derailleur that is 9 speed but i only have a 7 speed so I'm wondering about compatability issues.
