I want to sell my VP Free, and looking to get some opinions whether I should part it out or sell it complete, and what to ask if I sold it complete.
I think this is all the parts:
-2004 Medium black powdercoat frame (same frame design 04-07)
-Marzocchi 888R fork, no leaks or scratches
-Manitou...
I crashed my bike hard enough to crack the steerer tube, but the Azonic ST-1 bars are still fine. They are super beefy, and have an aluminum collar at the stem.
Update-
I spoke with Gamut and we decided it was my chain ring having an offset which makes it not compatible with the the way the guide works. I didn't realize this when I bought the chainring  Oh well... not the guide's fault.
Anyway, I still need to figure something out which is...
Ugh... Having some issues here. As you can see my other thread about chainring noise, I bought a new one and it fit in there perfect, and eliminated the noise.
So I went out for an actual ride today and went over a speed bump and the chain somehow gets stuck between the chain ring and the...
I do this exact process already  I used to only use grease but then the non-drive side cup started backing out during a ride, so the teflon tape increases the resistance and it has been flawless since.
I am looking for a square taper 136mm width spindle bottom bracket for a 1980's Diamondback.
I cracked the original spindle and this one is in there now, but it is not wide enough, so the small ring was rubbing on the frame and I had to remove it. Since then, the chain has dropped twice...
So... I got the new chainring in the mail surprisingly fast from Price Point. It's a dangerboy 34T... damn this thing is BEEF and high quality. Threw it on and the noise is 100% gone. FINALLY
I am trashing the old one and all the misery it cost me now
There's no play in the crankset. I don't have a front derailleur so it couldn't be that. It's ONLY when I pedal hard, and not dependent on the chain or cassette position. Der hangar bolts are tight as is the axle.
I was able to rotate he chainring with respect to the crank holes (by 90...

I bought a new chainring to hopefully fix it because it's the last thing I can think of. So far I have:
-rebuilt BB
-greased crank interface
-greased pedal interface and tried different pedals
-greased chainring bolts
-rebuilt pivots
How did you manage to dent the 729's? Pretty much all I ride is rocks and mine are still perfectly true.
Either way I'd say get the reliable ones again :)
I can tell it feels like my VP Free is up on stilts sometimes compared to other bikes. It's harder to get into berms with a lot of stability so you have to really lean it. Just takes some getting used to.
I ride a 450 and had been riding long before mountain biking. IMO it's tons more fun, but you can't do it everywhere so it's limiting, whereas you can jump on a mtb almost anywhere. Also you need lots of land area to really open up a 450, so a lighter bike is better for slow technical stuff...
looks pretty neat. Those little links in the orange bike probably experience some HUGE tensile force and they look pretty small, but cool anyway. Kinda like an inverted linkage from the Brooklyn dh bike
