    Loading Bikes into an Aircraft

Can't speak to what CAA did to authorize it. The GA8s are a fantastic machine for what we do, although they suck in turbulence. We are definitely going through more sick bags. They glide far better than a 206/207 which isn't hard as 206s glide like a greased anvil. Crash worthiness is fantastic...

    Loading Bikes into an Aircraft

This is the ideal set up, by Adventure Flights Golden Bay. I mentioned that it was illegal before but they do have CAA approval for it. They are mounted on old bomb racks, so the pilot has a release switch to drop the bikes if needed. Anyway we got rid of our 206 and got a GA8 airvan, with...

They did lose the conical washers and sleeves. Thanks for the link, I'll check up with the shop and send them that if necessary.

Hardware for 2005 SX Trail Frame with X-Fusion Shock

This is most likely a long shot but I'm getting quite frustrated. I took my x-fusion shock off my 2005 SX Trail into a shop here in NZ for servicing. Upon pick up a few months later, I found they'd lost the bushings for the shock. I took the shock back to them to order replacement, and left the...

    Loading Bikes into an Aircraft

For the moment we're holding off on investing in a new plane until some regulatory matters are settled around here with regards to part 125 and part 139. Looks like we're leaning towards a caravan though depending on the outcome, which would mean that we'd need to use the dirty ol' 206s for any...

    Loading Bikes into an Aircraft

What does top-to-tail mean? Are they concerned about the bikes scraping each other or getting damaged?

    Loading Bikes into an Aircraft

Our advantage over the helicopter would be greater range for the same cost. Most of the heli-biking here is not DH but all-mountain riding, probably because the market is bigger for that, and a real DH run is too short for a single helicopter drop-off. But since DH bikes are popular even on...

    Loading Bikes into an Aircraft

We have a 135 certificate running C206s and C172s. What's "combi" authorization? We're in New Zealand but the regulations are based on the FAA's. I'm mostly concerned about the windows getting scratched. I suppose we could put some masonite or other protection over the rear windows in some...

    Loading Bikes into an Aircraft

I have heard there's a guy operating (illegally) somewhere mounting bikes under the wings of a C206. It apparently works alright but to do it legally would be a fortune in regulatory costs.

    Loading Bikes into an Aircraft

Looking for any comments here about feasibility or the best options. Our company is looking at a new aircraft, and I'm convinced it could do very well for guided bike tours (think heli-biking, but cheaper). The problem is loading bikes into the thing. It's normally a 10 seat aircraft, 5 rows...

    Headline o' the day

You're right, recreational pilots are mostly rich dorks. Most people don't learn that until well after they get their CPL. There are other ways to have fun flying though. You can learn to fly paragliders and purchase your own rig for just a few grand.

    Headline o' the day

I think you'll find that if an aviation idea sounds like it would make money or be any fun, it's long since been made illegal by the FAA. I don't know how you plan to make money on charity flights, or start an airline with a fresh CPL, but it sounds like fun and I wish you the best. If a...

7000ft down in less than than 8 miles. steepest trail known to me... yet.

Are there any heli-bike companies operating out there? If not, is there a market for one?

They bitch enough that there aren't any movements at night. It's a resort town though and the vast majority of the tourists come through the airport, so nobody bitches too much.
