Slightly off topic:
does anybody have a confirmed availability date on the vans spd shoe? Were supposed to be released this fall - checked in a few vans stores a few weeks back, but shop employees were totally useless in terms of providing information.
Thanks

hey,
that s seriously old school...
i think back in 98 or 99 Jan Lundman used to race a "homemade" steel frame with 24 x 3.0 inch nokians in nevegal. A few month later he was still racing the same frame in Kaprun (rusty by now) , paired with the rst upside down fork to a top 5 result...
or another classic: nevegal, but at least they had some decent hotels there, still in the middle of nowhere, drove from Austria and it took me ages to get there...loved the mountain road up to the actual resort though and hanging out in belluno...

...3d racing, très kool, i think chris o driscoll raced one of these (minus the chainring, which i assume was for the kamikaze race in mammoth) on one of the wc dh tours in the 90s (i remember seeing him at the classic kaprun wc dh).

granada is a really good starting point for anything mtb related; there are single trails everywhere going up to the mulhacen. amazing place to ride, not crowded at all (unlikely to other places like lake garda and stuff), just the right place to ride for hours and not meeting anybody...
still remember the maribor wc, one of the best old school European venues, beautiful surroundings, nice track and a cool city to go out! My fav European wc still is nevegal 98, apart from being far away from everything and pouring like crazy
Thomas
definitely go for a cardbox! i travel a lot with my bike and never had any probs. You just have to get a new one after one/two flights! I remember back in Malaga, Spain, they had this awesome machine at the airport, pretty much wrapping the entire box in plastic! Def better than duct tape, was...
@damn true: are you serious? you really think european culture is like that? Maybe you should broaden your horizon a lil and travel to europe...

other forks coming into me mind...
