If they have sharp edges (that could damage the seals and bushings) sand them with a very fine sand paper (600). Only sand the scratch and not the area around.

When I bought my '11 Wilson large frameset there was a 325lbs Fox coil spring on my RC4.
And a 275lbs coil spring on my friend's medium frameset.

With 2 seasons with the Furax, I can say that it's not a bike that will stick to the ground, it prefers to jump over it. Pedaling is very efficient and maintenance can be done once a year. Very short, handling to the max.

What I did when I scratched my RS Pike was to sand it with a 600 grit. This way it won't damage the seals.
If it is deep and oil is leaking get some nail polish and fill it.

I used to install it vertical, but with my old Faith of 45 pounds, broke one on the weld.
Now I install it (near) horizontal. Leverage ratio is less and never had problems since.
