Well its time again for spring break and I was wondering what the trails are looking like in Pisgah right now. and if the parkway is open? figured it would be since no late season ice storm like last year. But anybody got any info on the trails, which are runnable, etc...(am/dh stuff)
wow. wasn't expecting snow. usually when we ride for SB, its shorts and tshirt weather. I guess that'll just add to the adventure. so your saying stay away from anything on the bent creek side? What about avery creek, trace ridge, pilot rock?
dang. thats what i was afraid of.
danennis-i dont mind getting muddy. Just have to sneak into a truck stop afterwards to clean up. ill be up there with 2 other guys so if want, your more than welcome to join. we're gonna ride avery creek, greenslick, pilot rock, big creek, and some of the...
Planning on coming up tomorrow to ride for my spring break till about wednesday. Weather.com says its suppose to rain that whole time. Anyone local got some info on what the trails are like right now? or if its truly gonna rain? Thanks.
i got a 4way on my preston (cant remember the lb spring). as long as its in the short travel setting its fine, but when i switch it into the long travel setting it seems to blows through the travel and compress alot when just sitting on it (im 160 lbs) only bottoms on hard hits but still alot of...
Me and a couple of the guys i ride with always go riding somewhere over our spring break. but this year is different. sadly we checked the weather report for next week and its gonna be raining all week in pisgah so were trying to find some new places to ride.
looking for some good all mountain...
Transition Preston all the way!! awesome for all mountain stuff becasue its not a long travel frame but beefy enough to take one hell of a beating. i live about 45 minutes away from pisgah so i build mine up to be an awesome "all mountain" bike. it wouldn't second guess any up or down on this...
ive ridden alot at dupont and id have to say the new burnt mountain is sick! the flowy section is so fast and fun while the other side is techy and is also lots of fun. short trail but deffiently worth riding. good addition to the trails out there.
not sure. never actually seen anyone put them on a AC. i used mine for mostly AM and some freeride so i couldn't really justify having that much travel. but if i see any ill let you know.
but just a thing to check first: inspect your chainstay right behind where it pivots on the frame. thats...
i had the same exact bike and put a 150mm manitou travis on it and loved it. raked out the front just a bit but still ran it on xc stuff all the time and did great. way better thant he psylo. i say run something 150-160 and stay single crown.
I finially blew up the rear hub in my rhynolite xl's and now im looking for a new wheelset. i mostly ride AM stuff so i need them to be light (atleast lighter than my current setup) but i do alot of weekend trips to bigger, gnarlier trails so i need something strong that i dont have to worry...
nice preston. good choice for NC riding. i love my preston and i ride alot in pisgah and surrounding ares. prefect for the decents while still able to climb the fire roads.
i teach mountian biking at a camp in black mountian and usually ride kitsuma or other stuff in pisgah on my day off. its a great trail as long as you dont mind hike-a-bike for the first dozen or so switch backs. climbable but id rather save my energy for the down. which is sweeet. love the...
i love my coil. it so much more plush than the air. like mike said, run the 4" setting. the longer travel setting is just too squishy and bottoms easily. good luck dialing it in.
