This was a quick measurement, which indicates a 4" difference. Get over it. Let's say the actual average difference when riding is around 3", that still gives 63.5 HA. The point being, the static numbers don't tell the story.
For what it's worth, my V10 with a Fox 40, fairly high up in the crowns (about .25" visible above the top clamp) is 62-ish when sagged. Looking at static geo numbers doesn't tell you all that much.
I'm right at 200lbs and run the 2009 40. Very happy with it. Great damping and very stiff. I run a Firm spring, 60ml of 10 weight in each leg (you can run an extra 10ml safely), 7 clicks low speed, and I think 7 or 8 high speed comp; can't recall rebound but it's fairly fast. Because there is so...
The thing that's really getting me is Warner saying the same things, race after race, for the same riders. Case in point: how many times do we need to be reminded that Peaty is 35 and has won 17 world cups? Enough already, I get it. Think of some other 'insight' to share.
The shock mount on the down tube is really well done in my opinion--it look solid and has nice lines at the same time. Actually, it kind of looks like a great white shark to me:-). The frame overall looks like a good step forward, save for the weird lines of top tube.
Truvativ Boobar: 740 or 760mm width; .8 or 1.2" rise. Think the sweep is 7x5
Burgtec Ridewide: 750mm; 20 or 40mm rise. 9x4. They are no longer scandium and weight is up to claimed 320g, which i think is a good thing. Price is a bit high though....
I've never found the mojo calculator to be accurate. I just went through both the fox and mojo calcs for my v10 and mojo says i need a 700lb spring! Fox was much closer to the truth suggesting 500 (I run 550).
i think william's comment was spot on about appearance: if there was no v10 this would look tits in my eyes. as it stands, not so much.... i'm actually surprised they decided to make this bike--i thought the FR market was kind of going away.
is the v-10 in the foreground a 1.5" HT? I wonder if this is a one-off for Peaty again this year or something they'll switch to for the next version...
You can order taper steerer Lyriks right now. Fox doesn't currently have these available. As mentioned above, the rumour is they'll be out "soon" but I have been asking around but have yet to hear anything firm.
I'll second the FSA K-force but only in theory. I bought one a while back because I was looking for a light saddle with some cut-out. My DH bike has been in pieces since, however, so I can't actually comment on its function.
After a few months of indecision (mostly due to the cost), I'm now just about ready to order these bars. My only concern is durability. The bars seem awfully light at approx. 270 grams for an almost 30" bar, but then again that's part of their appeal.
I realize that pros like Kovarik ride...
Alex is so talented. I'd put the Earthed movies on par or likely above any other sports videos I've ever seen. Such a shame there will be no more Earthed. I'm sure there are great things in his future and I wish him all the best.
