HUGE CELEBRATION AT DUTHIE JUNE 11th

Sounds like a cool event! :D I gotta say, though, beer in an LDS parking lot? Obviously Mormons have loosened up over the years.

For all you parents out there - SKUUT

Or ... Buy a regular bike and take off the pedals; put 'em back on after your kid starts coasting all over the place with his or her feet off the ground. Though I will admit $40 seems like it might be a decent price for a bike without a drivetrain :p

    Bikes you miss

Oh how I miss my Benotto 3000. After many other bikes ridden, owned, and borrowed it's still the one that remains my all time favorite road machine. Crumpled several years ago when I got hit on a foggy morning commute; I came out of that much better than the bike.

    White Brothers new Loop forks

I'd be more than a little surprised if these new forks weren't much like their predecessors: overpriced, so-so reliability, and with less performance than their competition.

    skier crash

The funny part was the guy (I'm guessing you) asking "You alright?" I doubt the "agony of defeat" skier was hearing anything at that moment other than the ringing/pounding in his head.

    RIP -- Kodachrome

You can see a few of those shots from that last roll of Kodachrome, along with many images by one of the finest photographers ever (in my not so humble opinion), here: http://stevemccurry.wordpress.com/ On a personal note, however, I have to admit to having dumped Kodachrome pretty...

    Input needed, Kitchen Knives

A big +1 to that suggestion. I'm a big fan of Wusthof and top end Henckels. Buy either of these and they'll still have them in 20 or 30 years. The first good piece of cutlery I purchased was a Henckels bread knife that I treated myself to when I first got into baking my own bread. That was...

We need some help voicing support for MTB access in Boston -- everyone can help

I remember reading about the Fells, and the trail situation there, back in the 90s. Stupid back then, stupid now. I doubt I ever live "in the neighborhood", but more than happy to lend a quick click.

More fried pedals = New pedals.

No direct personal experience with the Quartz pedals, but I know a couple of guys who use them (1 of whom I ride with fairly regularly) and it's a 50/50 sort of opinion based on what they say. One of the 2 thinks they're the best things since the original Times. The other has trouble coming...

No problem, just let me know.

    Manitou Single Crown forks

Was surprised to still see this thread still going, so thought I'd take a look ... If you still need a fork (while you get your cash back from the bonehead seller of the other one), I've got a near new Manitou Black Platinum (120mm travel) that's been sitting in a parts closet for about 2...

    dh front wheel suggestions

Go with the MTX33 or 31. Not light, but they build up great and are in line with what you want to do with them. I built up a set for a friend at the beginning of the summer who is riding a long travel Lenz. He's no hack, but he is big and rides quite aggressively. Wheels have been bomber...

    Ritchey Pedals

It's been a loooong time since I used Ritchey pedals, but they weren't very durable and worked like crap if you even looked sideways at mud (if you're thinking about these for 'cross). No idea who makes them currently, but back then they were just re-badged Wellgos - like so many pedals.

Amgen Tour coming to Tahoe in 2011!!!!!

No sh*t. They should have the peloton go up and over Ebbetts Pass, then up to Tahoe from the south - or at least over Carson Pass if Ebbetts is still snowed in. Let the Sierras actually play a role and give the race more of an epic feel  Even if it is only a week long.

    The Vuelta...

The racing itself has been helluva lot better than what we were treated to from the TDF. But if you need "big name stars" to enjoy solid racing action, more power to you I guess

    Photo monkeys: which flash card?

Any reputable brand card with 33mb and up speeds should be more than sufficient for your camera. Brand wise, I've developed a strong preference for Lexar, SanDisk, and Transcend but I'm sure other brands are fine as well. That said, and as others have noted, if you're going to shoot a lot of...

Avid Codes DOT 5.1; is DOT 5 automotive fluid ok?

^^ This. Also, check out your local or online moto dealers, they are much more familiar with 5.1. The Avid, 'random-bike/brake-manufacturer here', etc., 5.1 fluids sold in bike shops is just rebranded and packaged Motul and Maxima fluids for example ... stuff that you could buy at the moto...
