I'm building up an Avent 4x frame to use as a trail/mini dh bike.
I'm going to be running a SRAM 12-26 roadie cassette, and I'm not sure what size chain ring to run. At the moment I'm thinking either a 32 or 34t. I have seen an E13 32t special come up for a really good price second hand, but...
Looks good, its a shame that spare parts are so hard to find for them now. The linkage plates on my bb7 are slightly bent (they are the newer ones too), which means that I can't put it into the higher/stepper shock mount. It doesn't bother me too much as my 40's are set at 7" so it is super low...

Might be wrong, but I don't think you can get black or purple springs in Ti. I weigh between 120 and 130lbs and run an extra soft (black spring), but it does dive a bit even with a lot of LSC.
Thanks for all the replies. Again, I would still have to send my shock overseas. Heard of a guy here in NZ who is pretty good at rebuilding 5ths so I'll look into that. If I'm not happy with the results I will look into a new shock.

At the moment I'm running a 5th Element in my Balfa that has been on its way out for a while. The rebound is shot, doesn't feel very lively at all. Is it worth getting it overhauled? or should I pay 4x as much and invest in a new shock?

A 40 float would be cool, but would it really save that much weight over having a ti spring? I think a 36 float triple would be sick though, imagine how light that would be.

I'll be looking at getting some lighter rims when funds allow it, I'm only about 110lbs so I'm not too hard on rims. Running 729s at the moment but they're on their way out (rear has about 4 cracks and heaps of dents, mostly caused by the previous owner). Might just get some 721's but if I can...
With the 40's, you need to put some plastic shrink wrap around the spring and heat it up, which will stop the clicking noise if its put in the right place (mine is around the middle of the spring and only makes the occasional noise). Its nothing to worry about though.

Cheers, it weighs in at around 42-43lbs with DH tubes. Might try out some lighter tubes and see how they go.
