There are a few shuttles around but you'll have to know some locals to find them. The only legal on is log chutes up junctions creek. Purgatory doesn't have any "legal" DH trails either, including the old wc course. But there are enough DH trails to keep you busy. You just have to know people.
I would go with jamis. They might have a bad rap by some people but in the last couple of years they have been stepping things up. The new DH bike look really legit too. I've rode the new and old scott DH bikes and wasn't impressed the geometry seemed funky. Sure jamis isn't anything...
I have 2 months off of school so I am going down to my gramas for about a month or so and I am looking to find some DH and XC riding. I'll be staying in Newport beach, but i'm down for some long drives. If anybody has some recomendations for any trails that would be great. Thanks
