    the gearbox thread

it is not that stupid. It is actually pretty sweet, you downshift with the left thumb and up shift with the right. and as I use it with a geared hub, I can shift while breaking, coasting or when standing still. and the extra weight is minimal, not to say unnoticeable.

Super Clean Gearbox out of NZ

maybe a chain tensioner issue? unfortunately it isn't a concentric pivot, there is still some chian growths thus the need for a tensioner.

    Tomac and Honda (Gearbox bike)

You are right, a Db in a box is not such a straight forward solution, a lot of work is needed to fit the components in. you should look at the new alfine, 11 gears and at 1.6 kg. (a little bit liter than the speedhub - 1.736kg) it is not that heavy. I am currently running an alfine 8 wheel...

    Mini DH bike thread.

the shimano alfine is doing brilliantly with xtr shifting presicion. at first I was using a sturmey archer, but after a month or so it went on my town bike (to much sliping of the gears)

    the next big thing

they probably felt the same way in the early 90s. but I do tend to agree with you, it seems like nothing is happening. the only thing I can see in the near future is a single pivot revival (higher mounted rearward path) and a big steel (4130) come back.

    suspension... what is it for?

it's been done in the past, in the early 80's seconds 0.17 to 0.26.
