im in the same boat. i tried riding it without the cog and it would just result in a broken chain really quickly. only tried it one time and the chain broke twice within 15 minutes. the frame has been hanging in the garage for the past 2 years now.... im pumped to get the balfa back together!
my pulley wheel needs to be replaced too. any idea where to get one? ive been wanting to get the bb7 back on the trails and thats whats stopping me.
any one out there have one?
i think the 5 10s look sick, ive always worn mids or high tops for riding and have always wanted some that are spd compatible.
i had my eyes on these for ever but theyre super rare and i havent found them in my size yet...

pinkbike is the only place...
the flows work fine if youre a smooth rider. i have 3 sets of the flows on different bikes. one of them i have been using for 3 full race seasons at platty now. has some dents but nothing crazy... if you arent a pretty smooth rider i would recommend 721's. theyll last you forever.
i have three sets of these wheels and they have all been going strong for 2 seasons. one of the sets is on its 3rd season. i have even been riding a cracked rear rim for more than half a season with no issues.
i ran the stans solution in my tubes for a while on my mountain bike and never got a flat. im still doing this in my road bike. the only reason i stoped using it on my downhill bike is because i built a few sets of stans flow downhill rims and im running full tubeless now.
