Just thrashed another cheap BB from one of the main manufacturers (been through Truvativ, Shimano, Raceface...), and wondering about my options in replacing it.
Top tier BBs like those from King promise much, but do they deliver? Any thoughts much appreciated!
Wait, who won the world champs last year? Oh ya, Sam Hill, wearing a Leatt.
That aside, most of us are only in this for fun. Thus, the risk/reward calculations are necessarily quite different. In other words, NO ONE cares if you're just that little bit slower in [insert any race class except...
Saw this on my buddies phone yesterday while riding the park. Having a hard time understanding how casing that (quite small) jump broke the frame. Definitely not confidence inspiring, as it seems as though DH bikes should be able to take much more abuse than that...
Check out the Demo centre

They have Giants, Santa Cruz, Devincis, Treks etc, and you can switch between them. Bikes look mint btw.
one more thing... while the North Shore has many trails that are old school, with lots of tech stuff (even wood), there are also many other trails that are plenty fast, rough and steep for a proper review of a DH bike... you just gotta know where to look
I'll chime in on this DHR review from nsmb.
First, in full disclosure, I've got a DW DHR and I love it. I haven't had a lot of DH bikes, nor have a compared the DHR to many of my friends rides. However, its easily the best bike I've had, and my 08 Sunday was pretty damn good...
Re Noise - show...
Went from a Sunday to DHR as well. In my view, my 08 Sunday was pretty dialed, with reducer cups and modern parts in abundance.
I posted initial impressions and build of the DHR here: http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=241559
Since my post, I've come to love the bike even more...
x2 on the specialized tires
running cut storms, and they feel awesome in the slop... not so good on full wet rocks tho, and they roll S L O W But hey, its a pretty specific tire, so no surprises there
also using hillbillys, which are awesome for mixed conditions
still have the trusty...
I just got a response from DSP as well, and they said that it may or may not be possible with the 2.75 springs due to the slight variability in the space between the windings. They also said that they test their coils to full coil bind, and are very confident in the quality. Nonetheless, using a...
I've had an obtainium spring before, which was basically a 2.75" inch Ti spring in terms of free length that can nonetheless produce a 3" stroke because of the generous space between the coils.
I'm curious if other spring manufacturers' springs can do the same without over fatigue of the...
that a handlebar get replaced every year or two...
obviously, I get the concept - i.e. that bars are high stress components with major consequences from a failure for the rider (I like my teeth in my mouth, not scattered across the trail)
but I'm curious whether this is a remnant of bike...
DW: Appreciate the support on these forums, and of course all your fine work as evidenced by my new Ride! Keep it up!
Chillindrdude: As stated above, I started the shock settings at DW's recommended settings, and have tweaked a bit from there. Still a ways to go tho, but it feels really good...
Its no coincidence, as I based the set up on a post of yours on mtbr, LOL. However, I found the rebound at -5 to be a tad slow for my tastes. Still in the very, very early days of setting this up tho, so things may obviously change. And I'm running a 400# spring, with slightly higher psi in the...
Thought I'd post up my new XL dhr in neon yellow. Super stoked with how it turned out.

Dont know Id want to run without a strip in there, ive used black tape to seal holes to keep the strip from pushing out through them.
I know guys that have used gorilla tape as well but the main benefit of thi is the ability to glue the tire to the strip.
Bullcrew - ya, I take your point that...
