So it really sounds like a lot of people do not like the DHX on this frame. Good to know. I almost bought one. looks like I might get a 5th real cheep and shim-stack it myself or send it to Avalanche.
Ok that's good to know. It seemed like everywhere I looked everyone complained how steep and high it was. I just wasn't sure if everyone was jumping on the "hate on the socom" bandwagon. Any rear shock recommendations?
So I got a killer deal on a Socom. I was curious just how bad it is with a standard headset and regular dropouts(which I still need to buy). OR is it well worth it to either buy the "slacker" dropouts from Powell Precision and/or an angleset. I will be running this thing with a Fox 40RC2
I'm confused how Dan is not on Red Bull and yet still has played a huge role in the Atherton Project Documentary that's sponsored by Redbull? He has to be getting something from them
Yeah thats one thing that baffles me. Ebay is flooded with knock of road frames and XC mountain frames, but no DH frames. I always wondered why. Seems like if they could do a a carbon XC frame for $300, they should be able to do an aluminum DH frame for about the same price if not cheaper.
You can just go to a good hardware store or your local shop might have some longer screws hanging around.
I had an old 8spd DA derailleur that I converted to a single speed tensioner by putting in longer limit screws and locking it into the center of the cassette body. So it is definitely...
I realize you probably don't want to show all you cards, but if you could PM with I price range as I'm really interested and I need to start dropping anniversary gift hints
Crap I would probably need a small as I'm just under 5'7." What price range do you think they would be? And could we get one without a shock? It would be fun to get one of these frames and then rape pink bike for components. Avyify an old shock and fork and call it good.
Dude.....go back to geometry class.
look at the aft link. its designed to keep the pivot on the swing arm moving in a direction that's parallel to the seat tube while the forward linkage is designed to keep that pivot moving parallel to the shock. This is the same methodology that Yeti was...
Not trying to be a jerk, but it's basically like a 303. Look at the pivot locations on the swing arm and how they move in relation and proportion to the frame and shock travel. This thing probably eats square edge bumps.
