I'm guessing this is because of the sponsors logo's and stuff that are pretty visible at the front top. Same as Gwin (I believe) was also pointing to on the hotseat. Same thing as to why they keep the brace/helmet on for longer after their run I reckon.
Ditto. We mostly saw the bottom "flat" part and none of the woods. I reckon the camerapositions also get chosen to get the most track coverage in combination with some excitement (like some jumps) rather than get only small bits of the most technical wood sections.
I guess the best footage...
...
That's why i was saying I understood the point already. I was talking crash distance, while the numbers mentioned were measured from the top, which was unclear to me.
Besides, 75m is huge... 50m just might be the distance the bike travelled from the top. Anyways, doesn't matter as we...
Aye, that's a lot longer. I was talking about the part he actually really loses the bike. Freeze that clip shot from the top at about 00:32 and you see him landing frontwheel first but still "manage" and not go otb. Then he crashes hard and the rest is hard to tell from those clips. But true if...
cheers for sharing the footage
(Althought i'm still looking forward for a bit less amateur footage)
Seems the 75/50m mentioned by Transcend are still a bit of an exageration. ;)
Could indeed read that off the body language from the spectator at the livefeed. He grabbed his head so suddenly I already had the feeling something was pretty wrong. Was hoping he couldnt believe how insanely fast Sam was instead but no luck ;)
They need to sort the sound levels. Fabien was great as usual but too low, Rob too loud, cedric had a bit of hangover it seemed and was too low while the music over slomo's (which is a good addition) was too loud again.
Pretty incredible what mick did down there. He was a bit up at the top and added like 1.5 second at the bottom, whereas most guys are up on him at the top and lose it all plus more at the bottom...
There wouldn't be any sport (aka sponsors) in this way if there were no spectators.... if you want to throw it that way, everyone has some right to complain.
Oh, and probably if WC racers were complaining many more people here would be jumping on the same wagon. The fact that you don't see...
Eventhough your "logic" is clear, i'm with norbar on this. Would you still have the same opinion if they put a piece of asphalt/road in the race for that lenght? Race = race but roadcycling =/= DH, it's a damn WC. I guess it's do-able for 1 track but there definately shouldn't be more coming...
Very cool pictures buckow.
I will hopefully be going to Arco (lake Garda) next year but also might go somewhere near Morzine. How busy are the trails in your local riding area? Seems very natural, I like that!
Those trams easily allow bikes, etc there?
