mine come in around 2400g, but they are built up pretty burly (36h, DT swiss 440s, DT comp. db spokes). strong as hell though, they are awesome wheels. if you wanted to shed some weight I'd suggest Sapim CX-ray spokes for a super pimp (and expensive) wheelset.
Thanks a lot, I am in love with this bike. My last bike was an 06 Kona Stab, so switching over to this has made a world of difference. It's a good 8 or 9 pounds lighter, which is noticeable to say the least.
I am thinking about sanding the paint off my troy lee d2 carbon and having it raw carbon with a custom sticker job. does anybody have any tips for doing this? what grain sandpaper works the best? does it need a finish after being sanded down?
I ride an 08 dhr and its a full blown dh bike that is still very lively and responsive on the trail. its pretty light (mine weighs in at 38.7 with a very solid build- no xc rims or single ply tires or any of that), raiiils corners, jumps well and is an effing blast to ride. turner is offering...
id go for a thompson, I'm running one on my dhr and I'm happy with it. I consider myself a weight weenie, but when the trade off is 40g (or 3g if you get the masterpiece) versus potentially getting a nice carbon shard straight to the gooch, ill take the little bit of extra weight.
I'm running 823s on dt Swiss 440 hubs with dt double butted spokes. While they are a little over your target weight (around 2400g for 36h front and rear) they are still reasonably light when you take into account the weight savings UST provides. But aside from the weight they are super strong...
Thats the top of the line model, the Genius Limited, and they are actually going to be available in the US for 2009. I work at a Scott dealer and was lucky enough to get to ride one and it is an absolutely phenomenal bike. It climbs incredibly well (especially with the 6 inch-3.5 inch-lockout...
I've been rocking a kidney belt ever since I ruptured my kidney at snowmass last summer. For light dh trail riding I wear just a kidney belt (the TLD one) which isn't super protective but it offers nice lower back support and a little peace of mind. For the gnarlier stuff I've been wearing a...
I was having the same problem when I was building up my bike and then I finally managed to find some from Wilson. They had 5, I bought 4. I'll let you guys scramble for the last one.
I just built up a 2008 DHR, and with a Boxxer WC with flat crowns and Maxxis 2.5s the bottom bracket is right at 14" but I might drop it a little bit lower. I'm not exactly sure what the head tube angle is, but I would guess its right around 65º. It is an absolutely amazing bike- rails corners...
I was there early on in the season, and there weren't too many trails open but we spent the pretty much the whole day doing laps on Revenge and it was super fun. Great flow with some nice tech stuff. Definitely seems like a fun track to race on, I'll have to make it out for the race one of...
