Look for square nuts, not washers. Looks like McMaster has various steel and fiberglass available. The ones I am using are brass which makes them easier to file a shallow groove in.
Shimano's lever just turns the clutch mechanism on and off. When off it just acts like a standard derailleur. SRAMs type 2 actually locks the cage extended for easier wheel removal.
The clutch has reduced the chain slap. It's still there, just way quieter. On my all mountain rig I was able...
Sticking with all the 9spd stuff and still getting to sample the clutch is what got me too.
There is no need to have anything machined. Lelandjt has it covered a few posts ago. The 1/4" thick brass square washer I use just has a shallow groove filed down to achieve the .236" thickness that...
This sensitivity is what prompted me to ditch the washer stack i started using to try the spacer idea out. Just a slight rotation of the washers was enough to eff the situation up. The spacer is square and has a notch filed in it to keep the cable in just the right spot without fighting it...
Just saw this thread and thought i'd chime in. Those are my pics on pinkbike referred to earlier in the thread. The spacer has been working out great for me for about 6 months now. I didn't figure this stuff out myself. Steevoo on MTBR.com took the time to figure out the ratios and machine...
I've done broken neck and multiple back surgeries, but WTF - "hook-suspended" - self inflicted or some kind of hellraiser abduction? you win regardless!
I know you said in the beginning you like a short stem, but a slightly longer one might help. A slightly longer cockpit and more weight over the front will give you a larger area to stay centered. I don't know what HA you're running now but an angle set would give you even more wheelbase on...
If you haven't seen it yet, this thread has a lot of discussion...

I posted in there somewhere about my two lower back surgeries.
Depending on how bad the mri looks you should probably exhaust any and all PT type work first...
Woodman D-ML. It's got all the checklist but the ISCG tabs. And cough, cough (spam) I have one sitting in a box that needs a good home. Imaculate condition. PM me if you want.
Yes thats a 1.5 headtube.
I thought of that later too when I started thinking about how the brake caliper was supposed to line up with the rotor as well. Lots moar washers? The good news is a 150 hub should give you a little more stiffness/beef.
I'm not real familiar with that frame but based on the position of the single pivot that thing will probably ride/brake a hell of a lot better with the floater on there. I would try to make that work. I know that s not what you asked but thats my 2cents
I have had two separate discectomies four years apart. L4-L5 was the first. The second was the L4-L5 and L5-S1. I am now four and a half years out from the second surgery. My back is solid but I do have to be mindful to keep up on core exercises and how I lift things (I'm a contractor). I...
I've been scratching my head trying to remember too. A search brought this up...
