Yes you would need to heat treat the frame in order to make to bring the joint up to the same strength as the rest of the tube, however, its a lot less critical with any steel over aluminum. I would probably just weld it and not expect it to last the rest of forever, but, it will be fine for a...
Sounds like you are having harshness from friction in the chassis. Make sure you get the damper running as concentric as you can and run a lot of oil in the spring leg, I run 90cc. Turn the fork upside down for a bit before you go ride. I found the damper to be just a little heavy on the...
Durrr, yeah, the midvalve is just a lowspeed compression valve, I don’t know why I diverged…
I’m a big fan. I was a bit skeptical before I bought it since all the reviews read heavily with fanboyism. But, I decided to take the chance. The most notable difference is after a...
I have no idea, it might be a small marketing ploy to make the cart seem less expensive than it actually is?
I don’t have any experience riding the cart without the midvalve, but, supposedly keeps the fork relatively motionless in very slow speed compression conditions which translates...
Yes, I mostly agree, a stock boxer is a bad call for anyone that plans to do more than a single race run in a day. I had to put an Ava damper in mine to get it up to snuff. No matter what I did to lube-er up, it was, just, hash. I’m not sure what weight weenie thinks dry holeing...
Boulder is the worst place to be on the front range for bikes. There are a couple of really crowded trails and Valmont. If you drive an hour or 2 in any direction the options get better. Cheers.
I always get my spokes thru coloradocyclist.com They sell dt spokes individually so if you have a few different lengths required you can get exactly as many as you need at the correct length. In my experience the dt swiss db spokes are superior to the wheelsmith units.
You should really just do like the others have said and put a spring in it. Once you pull the of the drop stop which you don't need with the ava cart, put in a race top cap you end up with a fork that is only like 100g heavier than a stock WC and a much better ride.
On the contrary, mavic’s awkward screw in eyelets suffers a pretty big weight penalty on an otherwise fantastic rim. I wish mavic would offer an 823 that is ust with piercings on the inner wall that requires a 10g piece of tape instead. If E13s rims have a ust profile and are as tough as...
