    Panning with an open shutter can most certainly produce some pretty wild pics. That being said some of the suggestions regarding burst mode and prefocus are really your only options. A bulky SLR is just that...rather bulky.

    I didnt see that but I did watch the PBS Nova special about Mark Oliver Everett's dad. Mark is the guy from the Eels. It was called PARALLEL WORLDS. It was on the week before last I think. Pretty cultured crowd here.
