Okay. I actually just was reminded by my friend that a few years ago we were ere and they told us they like to leave the leafs down to protect the trail in the winter. Is this still the case? I wouldn't want to wreck trails that aren't ours, we can always ride over leafs.
Alright, I'll look into ttc but we're pretty well set on Windrock. It's my friend and my favorite place to ride. We'll bring leaf blowers and walk/blow the trails in the morning where it looks to be bad if need be. Our friend from SC is in for sure, so we'll be able to shuttle. If we see...
Ttc is too far from where we're coming from unfortunately. Staying till Sunday would be difficult with my work schedule. Probably just sticking to Saturday for now. Maybe we'll see someone around there.
Any of you folks planning to hit some rock this weekend. Two of us are supposed to be going from Ohio and meeting a friend of ours from SOuth Carolina but it would be nice to know if any others will be there just in case our friend can't make it.
Haven't been down there since February, 2011...
Bah, had a flat tire on my car and a new one was supposed to be in today but I just got word that firestone has my tire on national backorder till April 4th and no one locally has them in stock. Talk about a lame reason to not be able to make windrock!
Hopefully I'll see you guys next weekend.
A few of us from Ohio will be down this weekend hopefully, riding Saturday and possibly Sunday as well. I think we'll just be in my CR-V so I doubt we can shuttle any more than ourselves, but as always it would be great to ride with some of you guys. Weather looks great!
Looks sweet! I was a bit disappointed when I saw the DH course vid on pink bike somewhere but that stuff looks fun. If we can get a group to Windrock on Sunday it could make for a super fun weekend.
Any campsites you guys can recommend in the area? I'll be coming in from the north.
Would be great if we could get a group at windrock on Sunday. So far vie only got me and one other guys coming from Ohio so it would be nice if we could hook up and shuttle with others so we don't have to shuttle each other back and forth. Riding alone is no fun and unsafe...
I might be wrong but I believe if you place top 10 in any USAC event (such as ETSU) you qualify. They don't make it terribly difficult seeing as they want as many people at nationals as possible.
Love windrock, just trying to get more people to do the race so we can carpool. Also, to qualify for nationals, I have to buy a liscense, not just a 1 day right?
Also, is there an address to the trails or something?
Edit: never mind, I saw the directions on the flyer.
You can start in cat 2 if that's the level you're riding at. Cat 1 and pro require upgrades I know.
So where exactly are these trails located? Thinking about doing this race Saturday and heading over to windrock on Sunday.
I was wondering how today was gonna be. I was thinking about joining the Ohio crew but just didn't have the funds. We rode our local DH and it was actually almost totally dry! Hopefully you guys didn't have too much mud at the 'rock. That place can be sketchy when wet.
I think NCrider meant the other trail he was talking about wasn't very technical. The more I ride Southern Rocks the more I start to see the little techy lines through it. Of course last weekend was about the worst run through it I've ever had. I suppose it doesn't help if you do two higher...
Yeah, I agree the video makes it look tiny, but when you're going off that thing or when I used to walk the go around, you realize it's pretty decent size. Maybe it's more like 6 out and 6 down, but the landing is so smooth, though I definitely bottomed my fork the first time I hit it.
And x2...
Sounds great, not that there's anything wrong with all the little lines on the lower section.
I also wanted to mention there's a fairly decent sized limb/tree down on the windmill trail right before where the "Old Lower Windmill" branches off, down after the point drop.
Here's a vid of...
Yeup, I was out there last year visiting a friend and the riding out there is pure flow. It does lack tech, but it's a fun style of riding nonetheless. And yeah, I'm going out there to ride again. We're (tenatively) riding Post Canyon, Syncline, and Colonnade. Last year we rode Post Canyon...
Awesome day yesterday, despite my trail maintenance injury :-( ??? We were moving a huge branch that was down up on the windmill trail and it got dropped on my left foot and may have broken my toe. Oh well, broken toe isn't a critical injury, should be riding again in a couple weeks.
Hit some...
I'm assuming 2011 code pads are different than 2009? I may have a set of 2009 pads and I'll bring them along if they're compatible.
And I think Saturday is gonna be the day to go. Should be a decent little group.
