I have had good luck with the Kenda Nevegal 2.1 UST. It holds up in the rocky terrain of the South East. Doesn't like narrow rims though. On an XM819 it would squirm a bit if run under about 35psi. Big for a 2.1 tire, maybe 2.15-2.2 across the knobs.
Another one I like is the maxxis high...
Exactly:think:
Another BS review with pretty pictures of new product. Where are the pictures of the scratched and dinged 2 season old wheels??
How do you get people to pay $80-90 for a Sun rim? Put a Stan's sticker on it of course
For the record I have used flow rims for a season...
Exactly as I would put it. Plus 1 ;)
Other benefit of the organic/resin pads is that they are quieter. So if your rotor isn't true and rubs there isn't the ching-ching-ching, metal on metal, sound as the bent rotor contacts the pads.
Word. Mainly the length of the lowers and stanchions. Otherwise about the same fork strength-wise. Before the revelation many 4X racers were on Reba, so I don't think it is an issue.
I have been curious about these since they came out. Basically a bridge gap from the 321 to 721 rims. I have run the xm321 and previous 219 rims for trail and occasional jumping in the past, but found they were weaker than the 721 and the construction was not as nice. The en521 bumps back up...
RS recommended air pressure for Pike, Revelation, and Reba is well known to be high. I usually use about 20-30psi under their recommendation for air pressure for a 220lb rider. I have owned 2 pike air u-turn forks, 1 pike dual air, 2 reba dual air forks, and currently run a revelation team...
Cost is about $15 for the bearings or $75 if you get their BB kit. I run my Shimano until they fail and then pop in the enduro bearings. The Enduro bearings last longer and spin better. Worth the price of admission IME :thumb:
Redbull makes me yawn. Sometimes I get fired up on it, but usually only if I am up and moving around. If I am sitting at my desk it makes me feel more tired. So I stopped drinking it at work.
Something is wrong with your pike. I am pushing 240-250 out of the shower and only need about 140psi. After having the valving tuned by push I went down to 125psi. My current 2010 revelation only needs about 130psi.
Are you getting full travel out of it at 185psi??
Warranty with Shimano is hit or miss. I sent them an RT80 rotor that had more than .005in of thickness variation. It is totally unusable as it tugs/locks the rear wheel. They sent it back stating there is nothing wrong. Since it was an e-bay deal I have no other recourse that to eat it...
So dual ply is too heavy and single ply is too many pinch flats...
...then UST is about your only option for the middle ground :p
Many options in the 800-1000g range. Biggest issue you are going to run into with tubeless is the lack of soft compounds. Most, if not all, current UST are in...
I dunno, looks like DH has moved on from the smaller dual ply tires. Honestly the HR 2.35 is closer to 2.2 in all actuality. I have really been a fan of the tire in that size since moving to a rocky SE city.
over the last year I have tested out:
HR 2-ply 42a (1110g, I have 2 at this...
+1, Manitou will work fine. Manitou are heavy and a bit on the long side as DM mentioned. They are 1.43in ID, but that didn't cause any issue for me. Main reason to go Manitou is the price. I got my last spring for $16 total with a Beyond Bikes free shipping promo. Most other MFG are...
Woodman Wide 'N Wild Trials bars. I got a set of 740mm wide 25.4mm clamp off e-bay. Doesn't look like they are in production any more though :( You may have better luck on the trials side though.
All have tradeoffs. I have yet to find the fast rolling do-all ust tire that is still burly and has dh grip. The 60a 2.35 HR UST is pretty close though. The 2.1 HR ust is wicked fast, but is tiny and has a huge dead zone from ctr-side knobs.
Nevegals, they aren't all bad. Now that both...
