This is what's wrong with The Industry™

I’ve been devolving all my 11 and 12 speed bikes to 9 and 10 speed. No regrets(also no cog larger than 38, ahahaa). Less clicks, moar better

Talk me out of rekindling my youth via vintage bikes

I got to spend a couple minutes today riding my old ds bike from ‘97. Any of you old farts that are afraid to ride old bikes… build them up anyway and lend them to your favorite bike mechanic- kids today don’t get paid enough to have short/steep/stiff playful bikes. Old 26” hardtails are...

Talk me out of rekindling my youth via vintage bikes

A local shop kid was just gifted a ‘99 Chameleon, in the dope red color, size large. He is already riding a few of my Spookys from the same era- I’m pretty sure i have him convinced to build it rigid with some magura rim brakes and one of the many qr King hubsets that people have just...

This is what's right with The Industry®

Back on the Norba circuit, the lads used to call sending the jumps on the 4x track and getting all wadded up “getting Tara’d”… and that was before her life changing crash. Such a fierce, fierce human!

According to unnamed intelligence sources, new live valve is making more decisions, faster. And of course, there is a handlebar mounted lever. For reasons.

    Sagly like app? Setting tracker?

If i am a/b testing i write my settings on stickers ive applied to the frame or fork, just in case i forget. For the junior athletes i work with i usually write their initials, tire pressure and spoke tensions on each rim with a paint marker. A lil acetone wipes it right off

Who out there is still making 27.5 enduro bikes

Ones that don’t add extra length to a fork that is already 20mm longer than it needs to be? I doubt it.

Who out there is still making 27.5 enduro bikes

Yeah, but homeboy is asking about enduro bikes. Nobody should have to run 190mm of travel up front just so their bike handles ok. Bikes that go uphill, at all, definitely don’t benefit from higher front ends or longer air shafts…

Who out there is still making 27.5 enduro bikes

The clash is a park bike. Like all commencal’s its always wide af at the rear end- if you like a narrow stance, it’s gonna rubbyer boots. I keep seeing the headtubes fall off the FRS and Clash frames. By the time that happens to you, I wouldn’t be surprised if Commencal no longer has stock of...

    Tubeless sealant questions

i don’t use it, but a bunch of kids in North Carolina are sponsored by “black ox” sealant. It’s fun to ask them if they like “black ox”!

I noticed that Ellsworth now has a line of sunglasses. I assume it’s to disguise your face in public? (i won a bunch of xc races on an Ellsworth in 1996)

    Mullet Madness

Looks like a 5 lands built frame to me. Adam Prossie(Reeb fabricator)just finished exactly what you are asking for for my buddy Joe. Instead of bending the downtube(very HARD to accomplish well with light, oversized steel) they butt welded some 3d printed “curves”.

Big Caliper Little Rotor vs Opposite

Back when Gustav’s were free if ya finished on the Podium at Plattekill, i can confirm that there once were caliper/ master cylinder/burly rotor combinations that were overkill. any brake math nerds have the numbers on the mc to piston ration on old gustavs with 4-finger levers? Like the...

Big Caliper Little Rotor vs Opposite

The sram marketing blab talked a lot about getting your brakes hot enough to work well. I have certainly noticed when i run my biggest brake rotors and metallic pads in cold weather i get sub-optimal function. Getting the thermal mass up to where the pads are working well is actually pretty...

    Frankenbrakes and brake improvement discussion

I still have g1 and g2 code calipers attached to juicy levers and elixir levers that function as well as they did when they were new. The G2 code caliper on non-swing link guide master cylinders, good fluid and thick rotors is my favorite brake setup at the moment for my trail and trials bikes.

    Frameworks DH frames are happening

Indeed, my friends and i built some of the shuttle trails, and ran slalom races there. The “Little Yella Pils” beer was for Dale’ mom, and she was living in the ranch house at the Reeb Ranch (Dale is Front Range via Alabama). Once Granny passed Dale lost interest in the site(an old ww2...
