Nomad Carbon rear shock - time for a new one

Check out the graph. Blue line is air shock (very progressive with spacer installed) and the green line is with the coil. You can really see how the air shock would blow through travel, and the coil would stay a little more controlled.

Nomad Carbon rear shock - time for a new one

ZHendo- Thanks a ton for that post - that was exactly what I was looking for. Someone who had tested and tried all the options together. I ordered my DHX RC4 from Fox, so I'll have to let you know how it feels when it comes in. From what you are saying, I think I made the right choice. I did...

Nomad Carbon rear shock - time for a new one

I have been having the same issues with mine. I have a 2012 frame with a 2012 RP23, and im 200 lbs. I am running 30% sag, and found that the bike was not that supple on the small rapid stuff, but then it would blow through travel on stuff that was medium sized single hits (random 2 foot drop in...

    SRAM Carbon S-2200 Crankset?

I have heard that the S-2200 crankset is basically an unbranded XO crank.

    Nomad Seat Tube Angle

How does the Nomad climb with such a slack seat tube angle? I can't find another 6" bike with such a slack seat tube angle, so I am concerned it may feel awkward on steep seated climbs. Can anyone who has a bunch of trail riding experience on this bike comment on how it is on steep, in the...

Anyone miss the Fox 36 160 RC2 damper?

I sure hope the new 160mm 36s can handle the abuse the old ones could, cause I plan on putting my 2011 through even more than I put my 09. Nice to see other people think the RLC was stupid. I thought I might be alone there...but its like putting XC tunability in a DH capable fork. I rode my...

Anyone miss the Fox 36 160 RC2 damper?

Anyone else wish they kept the 36 160 line with RC2 cartridges instead of the RLC? I mean who is going to lock out a 6" travel fork? And even if you do - your back end will stay squishy.

    XX shifter XO rear Der?

Anyone remember what happened with the 8 to 9 speed thing? I think it was the same - 8 speed rear der with 9 speed shifter was a no go, but 8 speed shifter with a 9 speed rear der was ok? for some reason that doesn't seem to make sense but that is what i remember. Also - called Sram tech this...

    XX shifter XO rear Der?

Does anyone know if you can use a XX rear shifter on a 10 speed XO short cage rear derailleur? For some reason Sram doesn't make a short cage XX, but I would like to use the XX shifter.

    Rock Shox U-Turn Knobbies

I just broke my plastic U-turn knob on my old Pike. Does anyone know if I could replace it with those new fangled nice black aluminum ones and it will still fit? I'm assuming they didn't change the interface and rather just made a sexier knob, but who knows? Thanks

    What about 2 x 9?

It all depends on where you ride. Your from CO, which is huge climbs and then really fast downhills. I trail ride in CT, and a 32-32 is fine except for the steepest climbs. If you can outpedal a 32-11 where I ride, then thats pretty good. It all depends on where you ride.

    Entry level DSLR recommendations

in my opinion, quality lenses are more important than the camera body. I shoot an old rebel XTi with canon L series lenses. you can get good quality from a nice lens/bad body combo, but not the best body in the world can save a picture taken through a crappy lens. kit lenses (ie canon's 18-55mm...

    What about 2 x 9?

You think you can't get rid of your granny, but once you do its not really missed. I run a 1x9 32t in front and 11-32 in the back on my 33 lb AM bike. your legs just learn to pedal harder up hills to keep your speed up.

    50mm chain line is stupid?

i recently went to a single ring up front. when im in my lowest gear, its pretty obvious how much the chain is actually going sideways to make it all the way in to that rear cog. so i got to measuring and found out that a 50mm chain line is stupid. if you know otherwise, please let me know...

    Tips and Tricks

getting non-lock on grips off: take an old spoke, and shove it down between the grip and the h-bar. then pour a little isopropyl alcohol gown the gap between the grip and handlebars that form on either side of the spoke. grab the grip, and rotate it around the bar to spread the alcohol around...

Any advice for learning how to hit doubles?

Yeah that makes a lot of sense - for the slow case are you almost doing a j hop off the lip? I'm 22, but man did that vid stop at the wrong time haha. how did you fare after that? Just to clarify: while I have a devinci wilson sitting in my basement, I'll be learning to jump on my Spec Pitch...

Any advice for learning how to hit doubles?

does anyone have any advice for someone who wants to start hitting doubles? I'm comfortable on drops up to 6 feet and I can handle my bike in the air after being launched off a small lip at the top of a steep section. But i want to learn how to hit a double, where you actually go up before you...
