my new (old) Dr. Jekyll hurrrrr.

Finally stripped the paint off this frame and put it together with spare parts lying around. Only rode it around the sidewalk, but it feels really nice with the freaking high bottom bracket. Anybody else have one of these frames? How was it? and now for the idiocy.

    Silca pumps what happened.

I was blown away with how good this pump is. My LBS has one that is beat to **** and still works better than almost every other pump I've used.

    Argyle 318 Disassembly

Stanchions should be fine, and yea Ive completely removed the innards of both legs the spring, compression cylinder deal and the two rods, rebound and the rod the spring sits on. For a proper fork how easily should the uppers and lowers slide out? Since the fork wasn't ever designed to go this...

    Argyle 318 Disassembly

So, this is what my fork looks like right now. Long story short, I was just going to lower it, but the fork ended up getting compressed and now I cant separate the uppers and the lowers. I've ended up completely removing everything inside the fork, and the uppers still will not budge. Any...

more handlebar nonsense (what 2.5" bars to buy)

I'd like a set of bars with a bit more rise. Im currently running a set of 2" rise NS bars, and I've been searching, but cant find anything in 2.5". So I ask you guys, what 2.5" steel bars are out there? The only ones I've come across that fit that criteria are the USB bars (steel, 2.75")

    hinged brake lever

hmmm I did not know that. I'm currently running a set of NS Districts which are a 22.2 bar, but I'm in the process of getting different bars, and I figured a larger clamp diameter would let me continue using that lever. At any rate, I ended up just getting a Monolever.

    hinged brake lever

As far as I can tell, the Monolevers only come in a 22.2 clamp diameter. I'd really like something that fits a 25.4 bar.

    hinged brake lever

I finally have a set of brake mounts coming for my bike, which means I can finally start buying parts for a brake! I've got the brake itself all lined up, but I've a question about brake levers. My fixed has a really nice hinged brake lever and I'm wondering what my choices are for something...

    Plastic pedal reviews?

Odyssey Twisted PC's. I dont ride hard, but they're pretty nice. Still spin well, grips well when dry, but a bit lacking when wet.

talk to me about rear derailleurs!

haha. dammit. good to know it wasn't me screwing up the derailleur set-up! Anyways, thanks for all the help guys. This crash course in derailleurs has helped immensly. Now its just a matter of finding a cheaper used derailleur.

talk to me about rear derailleurs!

Yea, i think I'll just be sticking with a Shimano rear derailleur. like you said, I already have a Shimano shifter. Unfortunately, as amazing as the Saint sounds, I cant justify spending 1/4 of the price I paid for my bike on a derailleur. The plus side is it turns out my derailleur housing...

talk to me about rear derailleurs!

hmmm. so I was pricing all this stuff out at the shop I work at, and I can get a full set of X7 rear shifter and derailleur for 50-60ish dollars. How large of a difference is there between the X9 and X7

talk to me about rear derailleurs!

Im running Shimano shifter/shimano XT derailleur currently. Also, to make sure that I read you correctly, Shimano road and mountain bike shifters/derailleurs are all interchangeable? So what exactly prevents somebody from running a Shimano shifter with a SRAM derailleur? and I'm assuming the...

talk to me about rear derailleurs!

So, sorry if this has been covered ad nauseam, but search hasn't been working for me, and there wasn't a link in any of the sticky threads about rear derailleurs. My DH bike is the first bike I've had in ages that actually has gears. As a result, I'm woefully under-informed as to what is good...

    Rotor Bolts

thread derailment, but how did the standard rotor bolts end up being torx head when virtually everything else on the bike uses hex bolts? oh, and i run all six bolts. I dont see a reason to take off any...

    Free FOX racing shocks sticker

I have a similar project as CurbJumper. Once I get enough stickers, I'd like to completely sticker my commuter frame...or maybe just the seattube and downtube. Willing to toss some stickers my way? I can send you some money for the time and shipping?

    first DH bike/armour questions

I'm down in seattle unfortunately, so Drop n Zone is out of the question, and I'll definitely look into both suits suggested, but its going to be limited by what I can order through the shop I work at. As for padded shorts....yea. I'm definitely going to be getting a pair, especially for bmxing...

    first DH bike/armour questions

Well, I've finally lucked out enough to find a super cheap frame and built up my budget bike! First impressions: I absolutely adore this bike. Sure its a heavy pig, and not the best/newest parts, but its such a joy to ride! I'm going from a fully rigid mtbmx to this, and its so nice to...
