The trails, beer, and hospitality were over the top. Heidi and Capt. Cogset were awesome guides and even better hosts. The rest of the gang were great fun to ride with and even better fun to drink with. Unfortunately, now that I'm back at work, reality has come crashing down on me with a painful...
I almost forgot: Across the street from Fort Ord is a place called Toro Regional Park, which claims to have mountain bike trails. Echo and I checked it out and I can't recommend the place. We did a nice long fireroad grunt to some peak, but any singletrack that looked like fun (including the...
Echo and I were in the Monterey area last week for a family reunion, and we got some time to ride some trails in Fort Ord. We both raced Sea Otter around here about 10 years ago but too many beers since left us with little memory. We were pleasantly surprised by the fun factor and I think if you...
I think that's how most people do it. The only problem is you are missing the best trails in the park. Guadalasco has a great flow for a descent, the only problem being all those jackasses climbing up it
The proper way to ride Sycamore is to start in Newbury Park, drop down the bitch, hit the sweet singletrack through the canyon, head to the beach, climb Overlook, descend Backbone, climb Hell Hill, descend Guadalasco, climb up to the water tank past the burned out Airstream, drop some secret...
I hear you. I wouldn't ride it by choice, for sure. I don't fear it like I used to, though, you get used to it. Unless it is 100 degrees and baking off the blacktop with no wind. There's a bench at the top that's a memorial for some dude who never made it to the top.
Ok, so I've got a Whistler vacation planned in July. I'm going with my family but I'll have my XC bike with me. I'm not bringing any armor and I don't plan on buying a lift ticket. Call it blasphemy if you want, but that's my plan. Anyway, I'm only going to have a chance for two rides of about...
I ride that damn thing two or three times a week these days. The only good thing about it is the fact that I gotta do it if I want to get home. There have been a few times when I've seriously considered faking a problem and calling my wife to meet me at the beach. I haven't stooped that low yet...
I also worked at a greenhouse early in my career. But, my experience was the opposite of yours. The dude who owned it always paid us in cash, dealt illegal fireworks out of his house, dedicated one greenhouse in the back for growing pot, and had an illegal alien from Canada as the general...
I predict either Honda or Toyota will throw in the towel by the end of year.
I expect to see some great racing on the control tire between Kimi, Massa, Alonso, and perhaps a few surprises.
