Scary Fast! I'm lucky I didn't fall since I was covering 25 feet per second on the fastest pass! This is an internally geared Schlumpf hub specifically designed for mountain unicycles, and is totally fixed when in both 1:1 and 1:1.5. In high gear it becomes a virtual 39-40" wheel, capable of...
Thanks. It's Cold Spring trail and legal for bikes & hikers. It was my first time riding the top half. The ride is almost always done as a shuttle, but since ride solo most of the time, it was easier to drive to the top, ride down and hike back up.
Thanks. :)
I just got back from my very first visit to Santiago Oaks in the city of Orange, CA, and got to ride a trail there called "Mountain Goat". There's an infamous section known as "Waterfall", which is like a rampaging river of pure rock!
The layout is so varied, and there's so many backward...
This is my "Uni-Cable-Cam" or UCC for short. It is 100% backpack portable, 100% solo setup and is gravity powered. It can easily be used for mtb as well, and can zip down the line as fast as you can ride!
For this video I was riding my internal geared 26er, (1:1.5) and hit speeds close to 17 mph.
Epic four hour MUni at Simi Valley's "Hummingbird" trail. Super steep, technical and rocky, I did it brakeless! Was joined by local rider Will Kalman, an avid mtber. He's been riding a uni about a year now, and this was his first real ride on technical terrain, and he did a great job.
Hope...
Do you feel the same way about another *mtber* that "gets in your way", or a hiker, or equestrian? Not surprisingly, your confrontational attitude is in the vast minority of the countless friendly mtbers and other trail enthusiasts I've met over the years, many of which have been inspired to...
I took my new geared 26er to the trail Saturday morning, and found a mtber who let me attach my gopro to his bike, pointed back at me so I would be following him. Worked out great except that at one point he suddenly slowed down, unexpectedly, and I almost ran into him...while I was riding in...
Yeah it's a huge step up from 1:1 to 1:1:5! That's a 50% jump and makes a 26er an effective 39er! But as long as I'm going anywhere from 3-8mph, shifting up is pretty smooth in that there is no sudden "jolt". Just the sensation of a much bigger, heavier wheel that is rotating 50% faster than you...
This was my very first day on the trail with my new 26er geared uni! First two minutes is a brief tutorial on crank and shift button installation for the Schlumpf hub, which cost $1,740!
Second half shows me shifting (up close) while riding, downshifting for hills, *and* a mtber with my gopro...
I've done lots of big drops over the years, but this was unusually intimidating for me, and it took quite a while to psych myself up for it! (Could be because at almost 56, I know it takes a lot longer to bounce back from injuries than when I was 20!)
The landing was hard pan and sloped...
